  1. Son Of Monster Mashup. On deck next is The Bride Of Monster Mashup. (Thanks, thatpatguy.) Aloha, Brad
  2. The Slip @ Mavericks on Saturday, Dec. 16, then Lauzon @ Swizzles on Sunday, Dec. 17. Should be a good weekend. Aloha, Brad
  3. Tonight (Thursday, Oct. 19), James McKenty And The Spades along with Matthew Barber & The Union Dues are at Zaphod Beeblebrox in Ottawa. As far as I know, The Spades are on first, and since it's a Zaphod show, it'll probably start early, like 9:00pm or 9:30pm; I plan on getting there by about 8:00pm to get set up. Who else is in? Aloha, Brad
  4. Was the CD actually available last night? Aloha, Brad
  5. When I'm at a show, I try, really try, to enjoy everybody, but some people, well, are tougher for me to enjoy than others. But I keep it as a goal, though. Aloha, Brad
  6. Didn't I mention that I've never edited anything out of the middle of a recording? Aloha, Brad
  7. Courtesy of The Adventures of Accordion Guy in the 21st Century, here's a link that gives instruction on How to Cook a Steak (including how to make an $8 butcher section/shop steak come out like a $30 restuarant steak). Aloha, Brad
  8. Is that the second Rockport memory in as many days? Yup. Aloha, Brad
  9. They have an interesting promotion on Thursdays: Aloha, Brad
  10. You got the show up on the archive yet? Who do think he is, me? Aloha, Brad
  11. Douglas Hofstadter (author of "Godel, Escher, Bach") ran an interesting contest once: the prize was some huge amount of (virtual) money, and you could enter as often as you wanted (to enter, you sent in your name, along with how many times you wanted to enter). The catch was that the actual amount awarded was the intial prize money, divided by the total number of entries. So if you wanted to win, it's easy: send in your name with a huge number, like a googol or a googolplex. But the more times you enter, the smaller the award. The way to maximize the amount of money awarded is to make sure people enter as few times as possible; but as soon as one guy enters a huge number of times, those who enter a small number of times are doubly screwed, because both their chances and the winnings are dramatically reduced. Aloha, Brad

  13. Labatt's 50. Is there anything it can't do? Aloha, Brad
  14. Yup, it's crawling distance from the HC. http://www.cestwhat.com/ Aloha, Brad
  15. I'll bet he will, but if he does, I hope he encodes them for the North American region. Aloha, Brad
  16. Happy Day, dave-O! I was filing away my backup copy of the recent Fat Cats show, and seeing all the ferriswheeler CDs brought back some fond memories (and instances of lost memory..."Do you want us to play songs, or just make shit up?" ). Aloha, Brad
  17. There's an ampersand between "want" and "between", Roller. Aloha, Brad
  18. For those who don't know what this refers to, guitarist Dimebag Darrell (most notably of heavy metal band "Pantera") was killed on stage one night by a fan who got on stage with a gun. Several others were also killed that night. Aloha, Brad
  19. Happy Birthday, Kev! Aloha, Brad
  20. The pages I linked to are part of the Fender Amp Field Guide, which I find a credibly valuable resource when finding out about Fender tube amps. The "Champ" sections lists all the various Champs, including the Champ 12, Champ 25, Champ II (part of the Rivera-designed "II" line, which also included a Princeton Reverb II and a Deluxe Reverb II, which I've heard referred to as a "pawnshop prize"). Aloha, Brad
  21. You know' date=' that's interesting. I think I currently have three turntables and a pair of microphones but that really doesn't sound as good does it?[/quote'] I don't know, they both can be put into the same arrangement pattern: tMt (two turntables and a microphone) tMtMt (three turntables and two microphones) Each Microphone has a turntable on either side of it, and there are turntables at each end. (I sometimes play a 2-between-3-giving-5 rhythmic pattern, like [ABABA][ABABA][ABABA], but you can lay a lot of different rhthmic interpretations on top of it.) Aloha, Brad

    good Lord!

Did some crazy scientist invent an anti-gravity generator when I wasn't paying attention? Aloha, Brad
  23. Hmmm...I'd think that writing an article about a musician without having even a passing familiarity with his music (and Lauzon's solo music is radically different from nero's music; I've also found that Lauzon has grown and changed as a solo performer over the last 10 months or so) would limit the scope of the article. But if you're focusing on Lauzon the person, maybe it's OK. Aloha, Brad
