  1. Ask them to play "Silver Ships." It's a rarity (I've never heard it, only heard of it), and I want to see it put into rotation. Today's also the birthday of Chachi, their bass player. Aloha, Brad
  2. I just checked, and there are Soul Coughing shows on the LMA: http://www.archive.org/details/SoulCoughing After listening to the Doughty, I may go back and get into SC. Aloha, Brad
  3. He used to be the leader of Soul Coughing. Aloha, Brad
  4. Mike Doughty 2005-09-27. This is/was a "Staff Pick" on the Live Music Archive (as is/was David Lauzon 2006-08-12, which currently has been downloaded almost 120 times ), so I thought I'd give it a try. It's pretty good: pop songs, offbeat lyrics/titles ("Twenty-Seven Jennifers"), and his band includes a Canadian: "Handsome" Dan Chen "from the great province of Ontario" on the "electro-mechanical piano"; anybody know (of) this guy? Aloha, Brad
  5. I've found that kind of annoying when I've heard it live. ("OK, he's listing his own titles...what does this have to do with the rest of the lyrics of the song?") Aloha, Brad
  6. I haven't downloaded it, will not download, and will cover my ears, saying "Nah nah nah nah, I can't hear you , nah nah nah..." if I happen to be in the presence of someone blaring it through a sound system before it's officially released. I take this position not because of any sense of idealism, it's just that I don't want Booche to hate me. Aloha, Brad
  7. Congratulations, Julia and Eric! Aloha, Brad
  8. Yeah, it sounds like it's intended more for a guitarist who wants to record, than a recorder who may want to play guitar. While it's more for live recording, http://www.taperssection.com has forums for software, recording gear, computer recording, microphones, etc. (You have to register to read it, but it's free.) Aloha, Brad
  9. Have you checked out the Line6 TonePort gear? It only does USB, not Firewire, though.) The UX2 looks interesting to me, and I think you can plug an electic guitar/bass directly into it. It also has the Line6 effects, including guitar amp modeling. Aloha, Brad
  10. Yup, the character (it was sitcom) quoted the commercial, even did the hand-puppet Farfel thing. Aloha, Brad
  11. I hope you have some rile left, CJ...this topic has become un-pinned again... Aloha, Brad
  12. "N-e-s-t-l-e-s...Nestle's make the very best...chawwwwwclate...Farfel." (Pop quiz: what series and episode is that quote from?) Aloha, Brad
  13. Uh, no, Hayseed Dixie does not include DLR. They're just a band that plays AC/DC (and other heavy metal) songs in a bluegrass style. http://www.hayseed-dixie.com/ http://www.archive.org/details/HayseedDixie Aloha, Brad
  14. There's another reunion in the works: the Black Sabbath line-up with Tony Iommi, Bill Ward, Geezer Butler, and Ronnie James Dio is getting back together as "Heaven And Hell". http://jam.canoe.ca/Music/2006/10/26/2134759-ap.html Aloha, Brad
  15. StoneMtn, what would/could have happened if the jury had returned a verdict of "Not Guilty"? Aloha, Brad
  16. Perhaps she/he was a Rastafarian? Aloha, Brad
  17. Typo alert! Their MySpace page is actually http://www.myspace.com/mosesmayes You can also get live MM recordings at http://www.archive.org/details/MosesMayes Aloha, Brad
  18. Maybe the pin that's being used for this topic is one of those pins that just won't stick into the wall? (Or it's like one of those just-slightly-too-weak fridge magnets that will stick to the fridge but isn't strong enough to hold your shopping list up.) Aloha, Brad
  19. phorbesie, according to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nalgene Digging into some of the references from the original wikipedia page might prove useful. Aloha, Brad
  20. According to the latest e-mail from The Souljazz Orchestra I'm hoping for Sun Ra. Aloha, Brad
  21. The Tummies are not (yet) part of the Live Music Archive, but a couple versions of "Pumpkin" with nero + The Tummies are available; check the following shows: http://www.archive.org/details/nero2004-11-06.shnf http://www.archive.org/details/nero2004-12-10.shnf Aloha, Brad
  22. "Afro-Blue" from the second CD of the two-CD John Coltrane record, "Live In Seattle." I've owned this one for years, but don't listen to it that often, as it's down the "extreme" end of Coltrane's music, stylistically. Booche's suggestion that "Evolution" (also on the second CD) would be a good Hallowe'en song made me pull it out and give both CDs a listen. Aloha, Brad
  23. Anything from either of Aloha, Brad
  24. I think you should record the show even if someone else if recording audio and/or video. The more sources, the better. Aloha, Brad
  25. I hadn't expected that suggestion from you, Booche. I'll give it (and the rest of it) a listen at the office tomorrow. Aloha, Brad
