  1. I think Booche is trying some kind of reverse-psychology Jedi mind trick on us: he actually wants to hear "Shakedown Street", and is trying to goad us into helping him have the band play it, by making us think we can playfully cause him discomfort by having it played (and by falsely making us hope for the mayhem Booche says he'll cause if it's played). It won't work, Booche. I'm not going along with this nefarious scheme of yours. They can play it, or not, and I'll be happy either way. Aloha, Brad
  2. In addition to, or as a replacement for, dimafleck? Aloha, Brad
  3. How does Randy feel about this? Aloha, Brad
  4. ::checks out triple-thick ziplock bags with sealable grommets capable of holding taping gear:: Aloha, Brad
  5. Nice! Thanks for the update. What kind of cabinet do you have it hooked up to? Aloha, Brad
  6. According to http://www.ottawasun.com/Sports/2006/10/13/2016923.html Aloha, Brad
  7. Is it a coincidence that you're saying that in a jambands.ca topic whose topic ID # is 234828? Aloha, Brad
  8. http://www.jambase.com is pretty good, and covers a lot more than just "jambands." For example, its listings for Halifax, NS can be found here. Aloha, Brad
  9. No problem. Try cross-referencing against the LMA shows (and/or the album) first ("It's the only way he'll learn, dear."), and for any you can't get, you could send my a lyrical snippet or even an MP3 file, and I'll see if I can fill in the blanks. Aloha, Brad
  10. I read the subject for this topic, and immediately imagined a 1960s-style comic book cover, with a group of superheroes engaged in battle with huge walking, thinking, mutated marijuana plants, made that way by some kind of weird defoliant agent sprayed by the good guys that went horribly wrong... Aloha, Brad
  11. Yup, I had an e-mail from John (their tenor player, and designated "audio" guy) and he mentioned it. I'm looking forward to it (and not just because it's been about six months since I've seen them, and I'll miss them tomorrow night due to Fat Cats). Do you have a set list? If you need help with titles, let me know, and I'll try to help. Aloha, Brad
  12. They're also cool with taping, and have live shows for download at http://www.archive.org/details/TheWaybacks Aloha, Brad
  13. I just posted one of their videos in the YouTube forum: http://www.jambands.ca/sanctuary/showtopic.php?tid/234834/ They're not part of the Live Music Archive. Aloha, Brad
  14. RR doesn't list it either. http://www.ranchorelaxo.biz/rr_lband.html lists "Eef Barzelay of Clem Snide with Casey Dienil and Stephan Stanley" on Saturday, Oct. 14. Aloha, Brad
  15. Remind me to play you Jane's Addiction's version of "Ripple"... Aloha, Brad
  16. Have you considered just getting someone at the Manotick venue to patch their/a telephone in to the PA and just do your "firing up" remotely? Aloha, Brad
  17. Seeing the members of a band enjoy hearing the music that's being played by the band is a big one for me. I'm not talking about them enjoying the act of playing, just them enjoying the music. I've seen it a couple of times, notably the first Bela Fleck & The Flecktones shows I saw in the early 1990s (anybody remember Cafe Deluxe in Ottawa? ), and Phish in Ottawa in 1994. Knowing a band is OK with being recorded is a positive sign to me, too, as it really signals that the band has trust in both tapers and fans who get recordings. Aloha, Brad
  18. I noticed this listed on Mr. Something Something's tour dates, and wondered if the great unwashed masses would be able to attend. It turns out there are a limited number of wristbands, available on Friday after 6pm. Mr.SS has their showcase Friday at 10:55pm, after Janine Stoll at 10:20pm. Part of me wants to try and see if I can record JS/Mr.SS... Aloha, Brad
  19. What do you need to view the streaming video? I tried WinAmp, Windows Media Player, and QuickTime, and none of them worked. Aloha, Brad
  20. According to http://www.moe.org/news.php they've cancelled their North Carolina dates. Aloha, Brad
  21. Some googling led to http://www.phototour.minneapolis.mn.us/essays/democracy.html where the quote is attributed to Winston Churchill. Aloha, Brad
  22. There's a review of their new album in this week's Ottawa XPress. Aloha, Brad
  23. stupid, spoiled Ottawa. Add "curious" to that set of adjectives, curious as to what role Skratch Bastid will play in the show. If the show was just JSB, I can see them during two sets; even with an opener, they could do two. Will SB get his own set, in addition to the canned PA music before and between sets/bands (which would make two sets of JSB pretty much impossible), or will he be the between-band music? Aloha, Brad
  24. Have you tried sleeping in it, waking up every couple of hours to put a quarter in the parking meter so you don't get towed away while you doze away? Aloha, Brad
  25. According to the latest e-mail from JSB, the Ottawa show will have David Lauzon and Skratch Bastid. Aloha, Brad
