  1. Sort of. According to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japan#Government_and_politics According to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japan#Modern_Japan Aloha, Brad
  2. I was thinking it was a bottle of shampoo. Aloha, Brad
  3. Is communism right for every country? Is fascism right for every country? It's not just the specific system (e.g. democracy), that, when imposed, causes strife, it's the imposing itself that causes the strife. Don't confuse what is being imposed with the act of imposing it, as the two are not the same thing. Aloha, Brad
  4. You mean the hair on his head, right? Aloha, Brad
  5. Drive-By Truckers 2006-09-27. These guys are good; their music reminds of the music of The John Henrys, though maybe with a little harder edge than TJH. I wish they'd come and play Ottawa. Aloha, Brad
  6. I have no idea, but I hope the effect lasts through the weekend of Oct. 28/29, as it'll save me having to get a costume... Aloha, Brad
  7. BWM, has that show been uploaded? I found http://www.archive.org/details/moe1997-07-09dnk.shnf which is the Toronto Further set, and http://www.archive.org/details/moe1997-07-11dnk.sbd.shnf from Hershey, PA, two days later, so I'm guessing it was on 1997-07-10? Aloha, Brad
  8. Yeah, their tour dates now list their Ottawa show as being on Friday, Nov. 24, at Mavericks, which is a bummer, because Mr. Something Something is playing The Rainbow that night. Mr.SS hasn't played Ottawa since late May, and while they're playing here on Saturday, I'll be at Fat Cats, so I really want to see them in November. I really need another of me. Aloha, Brad
  9. It's Friday, Nov. 10. http://www.ottawaxpress.ca/music/artist.aspx?iIDGroupe=15380 Aloha, Brad
  10. On Saturday, Nov. 4, Babylon is hosting a CD release party for The Weapons Of Mass Seduction with C'mon (Toronto) and The Nymphets (Montréal). I probably won't be there, but I know there are people here who like C'mon. Aloha, Brad
  11. Please come to Ottawa and the show on Saturday. If you do, Booche will dote on and be fixated by you, leaving the rest of us in peace. If you don't, he'll either not show up at all, or show up and need an object for his "cavity explorations," said explorations made more intense by his frustration and unrequited longing, which could just be messy, metaphorically and literally. Yes, it might be difficult for you, but such a sacrifice made for "the team" will be handsomely rewarded karmically. Aloha, Brad
  12. Stick to the shows from the first half of the 1970s (esp. 1973 and 1974), as Mickey Hart wasn't with them during that period. (I think he left in 1970 or 1971, and returned in 1975 or 1976.) Aloha, Brad
  13. As well as some of what AD posted, my calendar includes, in the next few weeks: Saturday, Oct. 14: Fat Cats @ Mavericks Saturday, Oct. 21: JSB and David Lauzon @ Babylon Saturday, Nov. 4: The Souljazz Orchestra @ Le Petit Chicago (Hull) Saturday, Nov. 11: The Spades @ The Pour House Monday, Nov. 13: Lure @ Zaphod Beeblebrox Friday, Nov. 24: Mr. Something Something @ The Rainbow -or- Friday, Nov. 24: Moses Mayes @ Mavericks I'm also going to be at the Hallowe'en show on Saturday, Oct. 28, the full details of which are listed in thatpatguy's posting, above. Aloha, Brad
  14. What was the advice? Aloha, Brad

  16. Yeah, KS is bombular. If you have the chance, go see them. Aloha, Brad
  17. He also has one of my favourite campaign slogans: "Friedman's Just Another Word For Nothing Left To Lose." Aloha, Brad
  18. I started taping in September, 2002, but I didn't tape it, so my guess is that it was before that. I have a master list of the shows I've been to for the last five or six years at home, so I can check after work. Aloha, Brad
  19. I'll have to check, but I'm sure I recall a Fat Cats show at Cafe Dekcuf in 2002 or 2003 (certainly since after I got into nero and the rest of this scene, which was August, 2001). Still, it's been a long time, and Ottawa folk are envious (not jealous) of SoOn folk who get Fat Cats on a pretty regular basis. I and the Taping Rig of Immeasurable Modesty will be there. Aloha, Brad

    POG lookalike

Oh, I agree and acknowledge that he may look like the awake, PoG, but, unlike you, Booche, I delve far below superficialities and veneers. For someone to truly look like PoG, that person must capture all of the aspects of PoG's character, which includes the passed-out state. And that picture includes just his face. Does he have the (passed-out or awake) stature and build of PoG? Can he situate himself in a passed-out state (a true passed-out state; pretending to be passed out wouldn't count) and be mistaken for PoG? I don't know, but I'm not going to say he's a PoG lookalike until all the evidence is in. Aloha, Brad

    POG lookalike

I think we'd need to see him passed out in a camp chair to really tell how much he resembled PoG. Aloha, Brad
  22. The Manx is a little tiny downstairs pub, seemingly about the size of an average suburban living room. It's at 370 Elgin (between Somerset and Catherine, on the West side of Elgin). Aloha, Brad
