Patchoulia
Yesterday at work (for about 6 hours) I listened to (streamed) the Jammys show from last year...man, that sounded like fun. Might be worth the trip to NYC this year!

Jay Funk Dawg
why don't we have our own Canjammies? Here's how it might look: CanJammies Best New Album Nominees "The Bridgest" Fat Jebus "Zedonk" Nero "The Rebirth of Hootch" The Jimmy Swift Band "Where are they going?" Slowcoaster "By The Door" Burt Neilson Band CanJammies Best New Artist Nominees High Plains Drifter (had to throw that in ) Fat Jebus Mr. Something Something Vanderpark Melonworks New Shady Groove CanJammies Best Touring Artist Nominees The Jimmy Swift Band Burt Neilson Band Grand Theft Bus Wassabi Collective Blue Quater Nero CanJammies Festival of the Year Nominees Cometogether Music Festivals Evolve Music and Awareness Festival Shoreline Music Festival CanJammies Show of the Year The Slip/GTB, Montreal, Le Cabaret Moe. Del
moe. Toronto for show of the year? Ottawa kicked it's ass... I don't know how Melonworks or Fat Jebus could be nominated for best new artist, considering they only play on the east coast... Mavericks and Dekcuf are two different venues... I like the idea, but some of your choices are pretty fu©ked up...
bradm
I'd suggest a couple of other categories, to recognize acts that tried hardest to break new ground in another country: Bands Across The Border: Canada -> USA - nero - GTB Bands Across The Border: USA -> Canada - The Slip - moe. - Addison Groove Project (Feel free to disagree with the nominees and suggest others.) Aloha, Brad
Jay Funk Dawg
Being caught inbetween the Central and East Coast scenes, I'm going on the way I see it... please add your comments and suggestions.. Del tell me how you see it differently.. We might be able to get some interesting polls going!! Certainly could use some more "New Artists"
Del
Well, I think that's the problem with having a Canjammy Awards... There simply isn't enough going on up here to warrant one... The same four or five bands (nero, GTB, JSB and BNB) are going to be nominated for almost every award, because they're the only ones that toured consistently throughout Canada... The "new artist" category will be subjective, because there are always new bands springing up across the country, but very few have the money or pull to tour all of Canada... As for "show of the year"... What about some of the stuff that went down in BC? I'm sure some sickness came their way, yet to not represent them insults our friends on the west coast... Our scene is too small, it's not even worth debate...

CatPhish
Brilliant Idea! Who remembers the toaster award??? There must be a picture around somewhere. It was an old toaster that we would award to the drunkest "most toasted" person at the end of the night. I think it lasted about 4 rounds before the toaster was lost forever.
