TomFoolery
I must admit, I thought it would eat ballz when I first saw it was being done. The trailer looks pretty cool though. Thanks for the heads up...
Dr_Evil_Mouse
I'll certainly have to get over my fetish for the old cast(s) - especially Simon Jones as the book, and, well, everybody else. Say, that little robot isn't supposed to be Marvin the Paranoid Android, is it?
Dr_Evil_Mouse
Hm, I should follow the links before I post - thought that was still the little mini "What a Wonderful World" trailer. So that is Marvin; let's hope he at least *sounds* depressed. Looks too like they'll be getting much further along than the BBC TV series too. Ok, I'm hooked (not like I wouldn't have been anyway). bouche
cooooool! I just realized that the guy playing Arthur was in "The Office" as Tim. this looks like a really freaking blast.
fluffhead77
I'm with you Dr. Evil, the old cast was brilliant...I'm not sure I'm buying nthe fact that Mos Def is Ford Prefect...but it looks pretty stunning visually...apparently alan rickman is the voice of Marvin, that should be good.... thatpatguy
I don't know about The Heart of Gold being a big round ball thing.. wasn't it supposed to be shaped like a running shoe?
Dr_Evil_Mouse
Alan Rickman as Marvin. Ok, this is getting better all the time. Now I'll also be able to convince my elder daughter out to it (Harry Potter maniac that she is). And yeah, what's with the Heart of Gold? Maybe they decided it just looked more improbable that way. Calamity Jane
i just bought the book to read. i'm looking forward to it. i think i'll save watching the trailer until i've read the book. please, please DO. I don't think I can be convinced that this will EVER live up to either the cheesy BBC version (i have the DVD I will gladly lend out) OR the AWESOME audio recordings (also lend-able or burnable). Ya know, some images are best left to people's own imaginings. I mean the 'original' Zaphod is such a drunk, arrogant dickwad, with such a ludicrous second head, you can't help but want to take him to bed (ooops, I mean 'love him') I will give the movie a go, of course, but it seems on the surface too glossy, trying to appeal beyond Adams' fanatic readership. WTF? why not accept that heady Adams fans would support a truer version of the story. Am I rambling yet? Anyway, also wanted to add a personal note to Jroc that it is NOT ALLOWED to see the movie before you've finished the book(S). Same rules I give my students: create your own mental images, hear your own audio track, before allowing someone else (in this case the movie director) to impose his/her 'vision' final note: read "The Salmon of Doubt" for Adams' own take on, amoung MANY other subjects, why it took so damn long to have this film made. and finally, finally, remember when you're down and out and wonderin' what it's all about.......the answer IS 42!
