Hey, everybody! Time to start thinking about spring, and getting Jacked up with some Mousey goodness!

I'm really looking forward to this; IJ, of course, rock, and Harvard Mouse haven't been in Ottawa since about this time last year. Come on out and take in a night of great fun and music!

Dumb Question: What's the cover for this?

Also, will there be merch?

Harvard Mouse is newly enswagged, and prepared to embiggen your soul!

It's actually some funky buttons timouse had made up that we'll be wantonly pinning on people's shirts through the night when they're not looking (guerilla marketing, ya know).

Had a good time last night at Mavericks. Headed down after the Sens game and caught a great set from IJ,

and most of HM. Both bands were excellent and it was nice to meet some folks I haven't met before. Sorry I couldn't stick around to the end.

Got stopped at a RIDE checkpoint on the way home: "Been drinking sir?"

"Not at all"

"Have a good night!"

I've still got a nice big smile on the face from the weekend :). I was so happy to have had the rest of the Mice up here on new home turf. We played one of the more satisfying sets we've yet done. Huge thanks to everyone who made it out!

Enormous thanks especially to Inglewood Jack, who played brilliantly and got the room dancing to boot! It was a real treat to be able to sit in with you; we were downright spoiled by getting Lance in our set. I'm starting to get visions of mega-jams next time dancing in my head :).

Everything after Mavericks gets kinda blurry :P.

Welcome to the mutual thanks society. :)

Doc, that HM set was above and beyond what I expected; I think the word I used, when describing the band I saw at Dekcuf with Diesel Doc, was "ragged", in a loose, GD-ish, fun way. What I saw on Saturday was not ragged, it was confident, commanding, flexible, and fun. And it was an extra-special treat to hear a cover of another Canadian jamband! (HM did "All" by Diesel Dog, and did it justice.)

And as to the mega-jams, I'm down with that. Heck, given a big enough stage (hmmm...Lancaster upstairs, maybe? :)), I can envision a full-on two-band (two-drumkit) set-blender... :o

We had immense fun during our set. It was our longest to date, and our jammiest, too, along with featuring half (both in terms of time and # of songs) original material, and we wouldn't have been able to pull it off if Harvard Mouse hadn't given us the time and room to do our thing. Having Dr_Evil_Mouse on tabla for the last couple of tunes was a heavy-duty bonus.

I also want to note, again, how good a venue Mavericks is, and how good their people are. At one point during HM's set, a guy ended up standing right in front of my mic stand. This wasn't a big deal, but he looked like he was there alone, and not friends of any band members, or friends of friends of band members. He was also swaying back and forth a bit... At one point during some hockey banter, one of the Mouses threw a cap into the audience, and this guy decided he'd take his cap off and throw it onto the stage. This wasn't a big deal, except that he had obviously disposed of his balance long before this, and he came reeling back towards the mic stand, bumping into it, and then having trouble achieving veriticality. The bartender then swooped out from behind the bar (even beating me to him, as I had come around to politely ask him to make sure he didn't bump into the stand again), and forcibly escorted the guy out. (My guess is that the bartender had marked this guy as "borderline" when he arrived, and this was the last straw.)

Aloha,

Brad

Great show on Saturday, big thanks to all who showed up, bigger thanks to Mavericks for putting the show on, and biggest thanks to Harvard Mouse for having us open for them.

I had a lot of fun and it was great to meet more people from the board in real life.

Looking forward to the next time we can all get together!
