rubberdinghy
Oh my...just got back from The Wood on Wellington. After getting "asked to go outside" by some douchebag who wanted to throw punches, I ate their signature burger. It's great...however, I will say this...It's served on an onion/sesame roll (think Horton's everything bagel) and beleive this may have overpowered the actual burger taste. The cheese and mushrooms were great, and overall think it was an awesome meal. Not even sure there was sauce, so I did add chup and tard.I am satisfied though. Davey Boy 2.0
I'd rate their food as good but not great...I've had a personal style pizza there that was unmemorable and wings that were good (meaty and a decent sauce)
rubberdinghy
It's sorta like a high-end pub I guess...another thing I liked about it was the price. Burger/fries/salad for 11.This idiot drunk sat at our table, so I egged him on a bit. Then I told him to get lost, to which he responded "let's step outside", threw a weak backhand to watch me flinch, then was escorted out as I laughed in his face and continued to drink my beer.Douchebag
Booche
Mr Steer on St Catherines in MTL gave me a pretty fucking tastey bacon cheeseburger on Saturday morning. Nicely thick, round and fat like a Jim Barrett burger.
bagochips
Has anyone tried the new place in Hintonburg called Hintonburger? There's a review of it here, and it sounds pretty good.YES!!The Hintonburger is absolutely delicious, as was the poutine side I had. Go there, it is well worth it. Also, they deliver to to the Elmdale tavern.

Northern Wish
He must be referring to Shawn Bidner of this infamy- who was noted in the quote about Famous Frenchs by AD above:Stay away from any property owned by Shawn (Shonn) Bidner or his mother, Murial Greenberg Bidner. They will steal from you. They demand money (deposits etc) up front and then intimidate and try to evict honest tenants. They lie, pretend not to know when the properties need repair, and try to make tenants pay for the repairs. Shawn is violent, creepy, manipulative and probably mentally ill. His mother and wife ("Jo") enable him. He is stupid but very crafty and persistent, and so petty as to steal firewood. Do not rent from him in Chelsea ("amazing view" of river, "loft-style" apartment are his favourite words). He advertises on Kijiji - Beware. He has ripped off at least 6 tenants in the past 2 years, as well as plumbers, repair men, mechanics, neighbours, and his first wife.Another suckerOttawa, OntarioCanadahttp://www.ripoffreport.com/real-estate-services/shawn-aka-shonn-bidn/shawn-aka-shonn-bidner-sh-f9zca.htm

PassedOutGuy
i now concur.I dream about the Priest though its pretty expensive. One burger alone could run you more than ten bucks with no fries or drink.still... I LOVE it!

Big Wooly Mammoth
Haven't visited this topic in a while, not had I visited Famous Frenchys in a while. Decided to go ther last Thursday with the kids. I ordered ahead, and didn't even notice the sign outside signifying the name change. It wasn't until I tried to get my hamburger club card stamped, that I found out that the place had changed owners. That explained the "new menu coming soon" sign outside of the place. The prices have reverted to the Famous Frenchy prices, but the new owners (two thirtyish dudes) said a new menu was coming with higher prices. Their reason was more expensive meat, which now comes from a secret location. all they would say was that it was a west end Italian butcher shop. I liked Famous Frenchy's because they used local meat from Sasloves. The burgers were good, but I don't think I'll be back, as they couldn't tell me if it was local, natural raised beef or not. They mentioned that the previous owner (Shonn/Shawn) had gotten divorced and that was the reason for selling the place. His wife's nickname was Frenchy - hence the name. And they had moved from Chelsea to live above the restaurant at some point. That came up on a discussion with Shonn during one of my rare visits to the place. the burgers and other foods were named after Frenchy's kid's names. Shonn was their stepfather. New guys will be adding steaks and ribs to the menu. a mistake IMO. keep it simple with great burgers. but...

rubberdinghy
Baja Burger Shack. Britannia Beach O-town. Colour me dissappointed. The winner of CTV's best burger.I sometimes like a griddle burger (see my love for manhatten's) but this was just waaaaaaaaay to greasy. It's been about 3 hours and my belly is still not happy. I can still taste yesterdays burnt on grease in my mouth. Oh and the horrible processed cheese they use. I don't see myself going back. I'm sooooo sad. I was sooooo looking forward to this place! They even have Beau's on tap. Oh well. Can't win em all.
Esau.
Processed cheese is the deal breaker for me every time. I ask now when ordering a chesseburger if it's processed. I can';t stand that shit.
