briguy
Kick It Down Promotions in partnership with Pepper Jack's presents - OTEIL BURBRIDGE & THE PEACEMAKERS …bass player extraordinaire from the Allman Brothers Band Hamilton Debut! Tuesday, July 10, 2007 - Doors @ 8:00 PM $25 ADV, without service charge at Shady Grove, PJC, Spiritual Smoke, and Looney Tunes Tickets on sale Friday May 18th Support Act: TBA Ph: (905) 525-6666 The world knows Oteil Burbridge as the Allman Brothers bassist, and as a founding member of the Aquarium Rescue Unit. In recent years Oteil and the Peacemakers have brought a lot of attention to Oteil's skills as a band leader. Now Hamilton has a chance to hear this Grammy-nominated musician at his peak! - - - - - - Derek Trucks calls Oteil Burbridge "The Michael Jordan of the bass." That's probably the best place to start. Burbridge has always been in demand as a session and live musician. Recently he was simultaneously a member of six different bands. He is probably best known though for his membership in the Allman Brothers Band. His work with the band has earned him two Grammy nominations for best rock instrumental, in 2004 and 2005. Although Burbridge's resume dominates any story about the Peacemakers, each member of the group brings important elements to the band. Paul Henson is known as the lead singer of the Aquarium Rescue Unit, after Col. Bruce Hampton's departure in 1993. Drummer Chris Fryar has done session/side work with acts as diverse as Robert Moore, Charles Neville, and Victor Wooten. Keyboardist Matt Slocum was classically trained and attended the New England Conservatory of Music, and guitarist Mark Kimbrell is also a veteran of the session scene. Instrumentation - Oteil Burbridge: Bass Mark Kimball: Guitars Matt Slocum: keyboards, violin Chris Fryer: drums Paul Henson: vocals Discography: Believer The Family Secret Artist's House Ticket Information: On sale Friday May 18 $25 ADV, available without service charge at Shady Grove, Spiritual Smoke, Pepper Jack's, and Looney Tunes in Burlington. Jaimoe
I've seen Oteil's solo work before at the now-abandoned 360 in Toronto. He puts on a great show and his band is excellent. You won't find a better bassist playing a small club with Oteil's kind of pedigree.
bouche
That's a GREAT FUCKIN' band! Holy Shit! Nice score for Pepper Jack's. We caught them at the NEKMF a couple of years ago and I was blown away.

MuleMomma
Brian, you're a man after my own heart! How do you always know what I want to see?!? I'm thinking this might have to warrant a "sick" night (and I'm not even doing that for the ABB this year). Thanks again for bringing all the great music to town, and if there's ever anything you want me to do, you know where to reach me

briguy
On another note someone picked up 4 tickets from spiritual smoke and they paid debit and were charged tax (ticket price includes tax). It was a new staff member and they made a mistake. If anyone knows who this is please let them know that I’m going to reimburse them and sorry for the hassle. I have the ticket numbers and will also try and catch them at the door if I haven’t already found them. They can also go back to the store and ask for Allan ... he's usually off on Tues & Wed.CheersBC
