so i recently paid off a 30 dollar fine from the Sound and Moving Image Library at York U, but pretty much means I have free access to virtually anything out there as far as music or movies go.what should i get? myself into|??! bokonon
I suck with titles but lately I've had a craving to listen to that album of Zeppelin's music played by the London Symphony Orchestra. You know the one with the green cover? That, and everyone needs a copy of "The Motorcycle Song" by Arlo Guthrie.
allison
Pretty broad question...Based on some of your other musical choices I can recollect I'd suggest you get your hands on some Arthur Russell.
Guest Low Roller
I don't even know how to start answering that question as there is A LOT of good music out there. Some people on this website will spend the entire day writing massive lists so brace yourself for the onslaught. Here's a random list of CDs that I think are worth having. The only criteria I used is that the entire album must be listenable... I'm not talking one or two good tunes.Radiohead- Kid AFlaming Lips- Yoshimi Battles the Pink RobotsCatherine Wheel- Happy DaysArcade Fire- Funeral The Doors- The DoorsFoo Fighters- Foo FightersNeil Young- WeldNirvana- Unplugged in NYCPink Floyd- AnimalsBut that's just me. I'm not talking one or two good tunes.Using that criterion, I heartily recommend:Jeff Beck - Blow By BlowMiles Davis - Kind Of BlueThelonious Monk - Big Band & Quartet In Concert (2 CD)There are probably others, but those three titles are all wonderful.Aloha,Brad

phishtaper
ive never been able to get into Paul Weller's solo stuff all that much. for me, it was the frantic energy and youthful angst that made the Jam and the loungy soul that made Style Council. I love both bands. Ive never gotten much of either out of his solo stuff depite a feeling that I should be into it.
