New QOTD: First Favourite Song?

I remember my first favourite song ever being "The Unicorn" as performed by the (then still) Irish Rovers. I was 3 or 4, I think.

One of my first favourite "pop" songs (though I can't swear it was first) was "It's Still Rock 'n' Roll to Me" by Billy Joel. I loved that Glass Houses album. :)

I can't really remember what my first favourite song was since I started to listen and get interested in pop/rock and folk music at a real early age, something like age 5.

Some songs that I can remember loving in the early 70's were (My parents bought me the Red Album): "Help", "Paperback Writer", "Yesterday"; (I also had High Tides and Green Grass) "I Can't Get No Satisfaction", "Get Off Of My Cloud" and my parents liked Peter, Paul and Mary, so I tried not to cry when I heard "Puff The Magic Dragon".

I also liked air jamming to "Over The Hills and Far Away" with older friends of mine who had older brothers, hence the Zeppelin interest.

My first favourite song initially charted fifty years ago today - Johnny B. Goode by Chuck Berry.

When I was six I sat down and wrote my first ever fan letter. It began, "Dear Mr. B. Goode..."

My mom explained to me that there was no such person and thus was my first musical illusion shattered.

Science Fiction/ Double Feature

Michael Rennie was ill the day the earth stood still

But he told us where we stand

And Flash Gordon was there in silver underwear

Claude Raines was the invisible man

Then something went wrong for Fay Wray and King Kong

They got caught in a celluloid jam

Then at a deadly pace it came from outer space

And this is how the message ran:

Science Fiction - Double Feature

Dr. X will build a creature

See androids fighting Brad and Janet

Ann Francis stars in Forbidden Planet

Oh-oh at the late night, double feature, picture show.

I knew Leo G. Carroll was over a barrel

When Tarantula took to the hills

And I really got hot when I saw Janet Scott

Fight a Triffid that spits poison and kills

Dana Andrews said prunes gave him the runes

And passing them used lots of skills

But when worlds collide, said George Pal to his bride

I'm gonna give you some terrible thrills, like a:

Science Fiction - Double Feature

I wanna go, oh-oh, to the late night double feature picture show.

By RKO, oh-oh, at the late night double feature picture show.

At about 5 I was enthralled with this album- and that was right about when I was listening to albums- another favorite of the time wass Tubby the Tuba!

the entire grease soundtrack.

I didn't know you were gay!

I stood up and sang "We're Not Going To Take It" by Twisted Sister in church when I was three, so I guess I really liked that song. I do remember singing it in Daddy's T-bird. We were such a quintessential eighties family.
