Thanks but we've got a car seat, and Trey is past the point of being able to use a small infant seat. Our car seat is quite huge, fits ups to 50 pounds, and is a really great one, just quite big and awkward to carry. So yes we could take it in the cab, but having to carry it around with us while we're out, until we take a cab home, would be a bit of a nuisance.

Twas the week before Christmas and all through the City

The buses were parked, and the traffic was sh*tty.

Mayor Grinchy O’Brian and his council of goons

Assumed that the bus drivers were simplistic loons.

“It’s a fair contract,†Mayor Grinchy did claim,

Cuz he couldn’t care less if he caused any pain

To the drivers and public who would end up the brunt

Of his absurd and mysterious “block booking stunt.â€

While people tried desperately to find ways to work,

Mayor Grinchy O’Brian announced with a smirk,

“Folks, just get together and carpool or walk,

Or get out your bikes, but stay off the sidewalk.â€

He thought he could weasel a deal with OC

By bribing the drivers with two thousand g’s.

They couldn’t be bought, much to Grinchy’s chagrin

But he and his council of goons craved a win

So he raged and he whined and he dug in his heels

At the expense of the public who no longer had wheels.

A federal mediator came to try and assist,

A new contract was proposed—Mayor Grinchy was pissed

THIS contract the drivers were now willing to sign,

But Mayor Grinchy O’Brien continued to whine:

“Now Cullen! Now Legendre! Now Doucet and Ledman!

Now Bedard! Now Wilkinson! Now McRae and Thompson!

I don’t like this new contract – it gives drivers voices,

These guys are blue collar, they shouldn’t have choices.â€

And then something snapped in Grinchy’s wee head.

He threw up his hands and stubbornly said,

“I’ve had it with unions – enough of this game.

I’m leaving this town and I’m moving to Spain.â€

The City all cheered, Mayor Grinchy was gone

And the drivers were back in their buses at dawn.

In short a pretty crazy issue... Before listening to Chomsky I would also have a problem with the 'unrealistic' demands of the unions. The problem seems to be that the rest of us are use to having our employers take advantage of us. I do fear the unions killing the goose that laid the golden egg but on the other hand the 'death of the middle class' (in the USA) has been going on for years. After Chomsky I do not have such 'big problems' with union demands. We all need to be careful of 'union envy'.

You guys are turning me into liberal.

Bus strike talks to resume Saturday

The union representing OC Transpo drivers will be back at the negotiating table with the city on Saturday.

Garry Queale, the vice president of Amalgamated Transit Union Local 279, confirmed on the phone to the Sun his understanding that the city and the union will sit down on Saturday and Sunday. The union will be issuing a release later today.

Mayor Larry O'Brien said he met with Randy Graham, the union's international vice-president, earlier today.

"We discussed how the ATU could return to the bargaining table with no preconditions on either side and we came to an understanding that we would both seek that commitment from our respective management," O'Brien said in a release. "Despite what you may have heard, nothing has been removed from the table and we have not agreed on any process in advance."

Aloha,

Brad

Guest Low Roller
According to Ottawa police, pickets are allowed to delay cars, but are not allowed to stop people walking to the venue.

Why the FUCK are the cops saying that strikers can delay cars?
