Jay Funk Dawg
Embrace & NuFunk Present... LOTUS (SCI Fidelity / Philadelphia/Denver) http://www.lotusvibes.com plus special guests... The Chameleon Project (Reptile Vision / 360 Degrees) Live Breakbeat Dubstep http://www.myspace.com/chameleonproject and DJ Rollin' Cash (Bass Gators, Just Cause, Hotpierecords) Choice Breaks, Reggae & Dubstep http://www.myspace.com/cashrollin Saturday, February 27, 2010 – The Opera House 735 Queen Street East, Toronto $18.50 Advance (plus service charge) All Ages Event · Doors 8PM Tickets at http://www.ticketweb.ca, Rotate This, Soundscapes & Play De Record Confirm on FB: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=197206564199 Press Quotes on Lotus “simultaneously making waves on the jam, indie, electronica scene thanks to a series of well-crafted albums†- Relix “Lotus continue to expand upon its post-everything rock/electronic/jazz/free-form pastiche†– Big Shot Magazine “intent on creating a new game (few try that these days)… it is rock, and smart disco, funk and soul, piano pop, world music, modern alienation stuff and jazz fusion you can to dance to all wrapped up in cellophane†– Big Takeover Embrace & Nufunk are pleased to announce Toronto’s debut appearance of Lotus coming to The Opera House on Saturday, February 27, 2010. Never a group to be pigeonholed, Lotus brings many musical weapons to the stage. From festival stages such as Rothbury, Wakarusa, Evolve and Red Rocks to theaters across the country, the band has left grinning crowds dripping with sweat. Equal parts dance and rock, Lotus has been crafting a unique brand of instrumental rock for the past decade. Their latest release Oil on Glass/Feather on Wood “proves that no words are needed to elicit any feelings, the instrumentals alone are enough to connote a myriad of emotions.†The dual EPs show the multiple sides of Lotus with Feather on Wood showcasing slow-building guitar driven compositions and Oil on Glass leaning toward harder beats and textures. Like a Lotus show, the two sides work together to form a cohesive whole. The big light show and pounding beats may be club inspired, but the band’s ability to connect with the audience through emotive composition and dynamic improvisation pushes performances past the elusive barrier dividing concert and experience. gentlemonkey
Hmm..I'm not sure about that press shot.. Kinda looks like one guy took a break from his american eagle fashion shoot.. or thinks he's being followed, beard-o in the middle needs a hug, dude with the goatee is sure he heard his mum calling and I guess that must be dad and 'young terminator' bringing up the rear. All offered in a 'Sears-y' autumn setting. Ok I'm sure, i like it.
