  1. Sorry if this is at all off topic, but bouche and I have been discussing getting someone into our home to check it out. We're worried about the structure as the walls have developed some concerning cracks. Is that what we need, an Engineer? If so what kind and does anyone know who to call in Ottawa? Sorry to highjack, this thread just sparked the thought.
  2. OMG Dingy, the Haitian turkey sounds out of this world.
  3. So what is your favorite KIND of peanut butter, natural or full of sugar? Smooth or chunky. I'm a Kraft smooth girl myself, but maybe the next jar will be chunky for a bit of a change.
  4. Oh that's the little pick-me-up I needed today. Thanks Schwa.
  5. Christmas traditions, smells and tastes are so deeply imbedded in my soul that this time of year I crave things I don't at any other time of the year. And because it's the holidays, I give in to every single craving. Lately I've been consuming a lot of egg nog (with rum), fruit cake, mulled hot cider (with rum). I'm looking forward to my Christmas eve ritual of decident nibbles, caviar, cheeses and crab dip. Oh yeah, let's not forget about Christmas breakfast and turkey dinner! What are your holiday culinary vices?
  6. I'm eating the leftover meatballs right now. GOOD GOD!! I moaned out loud at my desk!
  7. It's probably not what you're after, but I really loved Jacques Pepins - The Apprentice, My Life in the Kitchen. But I'm like that.
  8. Happy birthday you hunka hunka burnin' monkey!
  9. As a Director of Operations who does about 40 performance reviews every year, I could not agree with Gateaux more. Yes, I know you're a good employee, but my memory isn't going to hold onto all the details of each and every employee. I need my employees to tell me in as great detail as they can what they have personally accomplished this year, what they brought to the team environment, where they are in relation to the measurable aspects of their job. (85% on guest satisfaction, 76% of sales targets, 10% under budget, etc). Numbers, measurements and acheivements talk more than how you "feel" you've contributed. Use this time to prepare. Good luck.
  10. <---------- Holy shit is my dog cute!
  11. I'm totally taking a snow day tomorrow. We just spent a couple hours clearing the driveway. The snow was literally past my knees! The piles at the end of our drive are taller than we are. It's incredible. I'll likely feel every muscle in my body tomorrow. Best to stay at home with the perscription of pajamas, hot tub and rum.
  12. I didn't think I liked him, but I'm really enjoying his Austin City Limits performance. It looks like he's taking a shit when he sings, but if I look away, the music is pretty good.
  13. Congratulations!!! What terrific news. Marriage is wonderful.
  14. Some kids came about 2 hours ago to our front door asking if we wanted them to shovel. The snow was up to their thighs! It hasn't stopped since then. I didn't have the heart to have the poor kids do our driveway. It would have taken them all damn day. Likely taking a now day tomorrow to clean all this up. It's beautiful though.

    Heroes Thread

bouche and I are finishing up season 3 of Deadwood. Man what a good series. I love it. Season 2 of Heroes sucked so hard.
  16. Dear work, Just when I started to become frustrated, bored and thought I might be happier elsewhere, you provided me with a new, exciting and creative position. I've been enjoying my work so much lately and appreciate the opportunity. Better work for more money makes me swell with the Christmas spirit and look forward to waking up in the morning! Oh and thanks for paying my mortgage.
  17. Wow. I'd love to at least hear these shows. It will be great to hear the older stuff done with Nels Cline. I wuv him.

    fish!

When we were in Belize we ate a lot of snapper. Since we've been home we've we've cooked it a few times and each time was delicious. I know we did it whole, once steamed, once deep fried and once baked. I like whole fish, it's easy, looks pretty and forces you to eat nice and slow.
  19. I found this while shopping online...... The Mixtape is a fine art that is threatened by the loss of the medium. Two channel analog magnetic tape is disappearing in favor of MP3 files. A mixtape is a snapshot of your musical and social tastes during the brief period in which you created it. That summer in 1992, maybe your mixtape was full of Stone Temple Pilots, Morrissey, Toad The Wet Sprocket, The Cure, and audio-clips from Blade Runner. You gave that tape to your girlfriend. She dumped you, but not because of that mixtape. That was awesome! Nobody makes mixtapes anymore. Analog audiotapes just aren't passed around anymore. It's a shame, really. Yes, the medium sucks, but the concept and the thought and the ART needs to find a way to live on. The USB Mixtape Memory Stick is a digital analogue to the venerable C60 cassette of old. 60 minutes worth of storage or your MP3s, organized into a cohesive whole - something that says who you are at this moment in time. Packaged to look like an old analog audio cassette tape, with room to scrawl out your tracklist, the USB Mixtape Memory Stick makes the perfect gift to your significant other. You have to provide the music and the liner notes, but that's the art. We only provide the canvas. The USB Mixtape Memory Stick comes in four distinct styles, each artistically distressed to look like a vintage audio cassette. Stores up to 64 megs of whatever you want, but we recommend Ogg and MP3.
  20. I bet if you call Can O Beats, he'd fly to Winnipeg to hang out with you. ;o) BTW Lynners, I couldn't find the cushion stuff we talked about before you left. Have fun!

    fish!

I guess my all-time favorite fish dish that we cook is also one of the simplest. Salmon filet with PC "Memories of Montego Bay" jerk sauce. Pan fried, grilled or baked, it's all good. Mike and I have a killer beer batter that's good for onion rings or fish, but that doesn't help you incorporate the healthier side of fish into your diet.
  22. Oh yeah girl! Much better! How do you type a whistle???
  23. Oh yeah!! Put down the Ryan Adams and bring out the Bon Jovi!! So when are we honoured with your presence again? I can't wait!
  24. I'm sorry to hear that BradM watches Dr.Phil.
