  1. Dammit Sean! I got row G seats 30 and 32 and I ordered hours ago! FACK. I'm just jealous.
  2. Oh, oh, oh, I'm going to have to jump on the Chez Dorval train as well. My gawd what atmosphere, what food, what prices! I ordered the whole fish. I forget what kind it was but I was served two of them! I ate every, delicious bite.
  3. Over at Douglas' with our puppy dogs, in her yard, enjoying the sun and some beers! I like it there! Maybe this weekend.
  4. I need to call him within the hour. Anyone? PM me.
  5. Mike and I just bought a brand spanking new Chrysler Caliber and are loving it!
  6. I loved Musicology on the first listen (and every listen thereafter).
  7. Hmmm, I no likey the new album. And ya'll know I LOVE Prince. I can usually make it through at least one listen with any CD, but I had to skip some songs completely on my first listen. Blechy cheese. Bring on the funk and crazy guitar solos!
  8. I'll get in on some of that action NW. It's a good one indeed.
  9. We've been going to Ging Sing for Chinese a lot lately. It's at Preston and Somerset across from the Wine Exchange. Very, very good. The chef certainly prides himself on presentation. I don't think Le Pied du Cochon and Au Pied du Chochon are related. I've had a hankering to try the Montreal version ever since I saw Anthony Bordain visit it on No Reservations. We decided to try the one in Hull, and while it's got good food (I had beef tar tar and bouche had lamb chops) the atmosphere is that of a seniors home. Definitly no frois gras or duck on the menu which is what the one in Montreal is famous for.
  10. Thai - I'll second Corriander Thai on Kent Italian - Hmmm, I don't eat italian very often but we went to Giovannis and it was good. Chinese Delivery or Take Out - No question, Mekong Take out. (China Town) www.mekong.ca Pho - Saigon Noodle House. It's the newest one in on Somerset in China Town right at Bronson. It's incredible how much better the meat quality is at this place. Don't just try the pho though, they have a pork chop and rice that was one of the best meals I've ever had in china Town. Breakfast/Brunch - Stoneface Dollies on Preston Diner/Greasy Spoon - Mellos on Dalhousie
  11. Safe journey Blane. Thanks for the updates.
  12. Should I be buying harmony remote stock?
  13. Tonight we're having fish so I transformed the last of our potato leek soup with some lemon juice and dill. Mmmmm. I'm telling you, it took me 30 seconds to make a brand new soup! I fuckin love this method!
  14. So bouche and I were the lucky recipients of Julia Childs "The Art of French Cooking". I don't care if I have gained ten pounds, that book is fantastic! One of the best lessons I have learned from the book is a potato leek soup which is to die for, but what makes it even more special is that once it's made, it can then be the base for almost any other soup. The recipe makes a lot so out of the left overs just add anything you think would work, puree it and voila, you have a new soup. Some ideas: Watercress Herbs Tomatoes Corn Broccoli Asparagus Last night we had Mexican so I used leftover potato leek soup and added a roasted red pepper and a chipotle pepper with some adobo sauce. It was such a different soup but was SO good and easy. Here's the initial recipe (also easy as hell): (Oh and if you eat this cold it's caled Vichyssoise!) 4 cups sliced leeks, white part only 4 cups diced potatoes, old or baking potatoes recommended 6 to 7 cups water 1 1/2 to 2 teaspoons salt or to taste 4-6 Tbsp cup or more sour cream, whipping cream, or crème fraîche 1 Tbsp butter. 1 Tablespoon fresh chives or parsley, minced for garnish. Bring the leeks, potatoes and water to the boil in the saucepan. Salt lightly, cover partially, and simmer 20-30 minutes, or until the vegetables are tender. Purée the soup. Taste, and correct seasoning. Serve hot or cold. Top each serving with a sprinkle of chives or parsley. Enjoy!!
  15. We use Smith, Petrie, Carr & Scott. They got us a great rate for home and auto and every few months or so they send us an updated statement with our new, lower rate. It's gone down about 6 times! I think their # is 613-237-2871. Edit to add: They are a broker.
  16. I liked it alot. I am learning just how big of a wuss I am though. It scared me a bit. Pathetic, I know.
  17. Happy birthday to my absolute, all time favorite Have a frackin fantastic weekend.
  18. Oh I know what it was Luckie Louie. It's funny. Here's the torrent.
  19. I've had it (in it's programmed state) for all of 5 minutes and I am already efficient with it! Snice!
  20. I miss all the good stuff. I've been in Ottawa for 6 years and have never EVER seen anyone smoking crack on the streets. She's here for a day and sees countless people sitting around smoking crack. It's not fair.
  21. Wowee wow wow. Sometimes it seems that one person can't make a difference, but in this case, it looks like you did! Phorbsie I am super proud of you!
  22. For sure a blanket takes up more room than a chair and people are a lot more protective of a blanket then they are a chair. IMO The only way to resolve this? Move to a different city. Ottawa is Ottawa. It's a conservative city because it's full of government workers. It's got nothing to do with lawnchairs. I go to concerts at the Corel Center (or whatever the hell it's called now) and we all have assigned seating. If I yell out to much to request a song or stand up, I hear "Shut up and sit down."
