  3. Yep, for a proportional log that doesn't disappoint, Velvet's your man! Good work!
  4. I say it's about friggin' time.
  5. Well, wasn't our Prime Minister hanging out with Jenn Heil? Heil Harper!
  6. Other than those MTV wankers, I thought the coverage was excellent. The announcers were top notch. The interviews with athletes and celebrities were interesting and very well done. I'm glad CTV lured the veteran Brian Williams away from CBC to host. I did miss Don & Ron though. The games looked incredible in HD - I have to say this year was the most of any Olympics I've ever watched. It helps when the time zone is close. There was an event worth watching at any given time on any one of a dozen or so HD channels.
  7. That game was awesome! It could not have had a more fitting finish.
  8. Enjoy the game Velvet & Phorbesie! ::green with envy::
  9. I have to disagree. That guy dying on the luge is the biggest black spot. But in close second are these clowns: Seriously, a guy who looks like that has no business on a sports broadcast.
  10. I finally saw this movie this morning and enjoyed it immensely. I remember seeing Anvil open up for Iron Maiden in 1982. I didn't think much of them back then. Saw them again in the early 90s in a metal club in Hull, I appreciated them a lot more that time. ::puts on vinyl copy of "Metal on Metal"::
  11. Looks like the US will be in the gold metal game. Halfway through the first they're up 4-0 over Finland and Kipper has been yanked (pun intended!)
  12. Never before has so much been said about a sporting event that mattered so little! That said, they should have kept their drinking and smoking to the locker room.
  13. The Russian hockey team may be bears, but last night they were dressed as mules. Rented mules.
  14. The 1980 Olympics in Moscow were so well-run that half the world didn't even bother to show up!
  15. They do this every season. If you renew your ticket package early (which I did), your name gets entered into a draw. You can win the ticket package that you purchased. There are other non-ticket prizes too. The ticket package that I purchased was a 10-game package for a pair of seats in the 3rd row of the upper bowl. They gave me a choice of prizes: either a pair of full season tickets in the nosebleed seats, or a half season better seats.
  16. Woohoo! Got a call last night from the Senators marketing people. I won a pair of half-season ticket packages for next season! To save the haters some trouble, I've prepared snide remarks in advance. Feel free to cut and paste any of these into your reply. Or go ahead and make up your own! "The fans are so quiet, you may as well have won free passes to the library" "Did you also win a free trip to the exits with 10 minutes left in the third period?"
  17. Over in Rich Stadium your brother posted this earlier today.
  18. Well after seeing the show last night in Montreal, I can surmise that Ben Rayner of The Star must have been in a bad mood. Both Clapton and Beck were great. Sure, Clapton may have been laid back, but his music lends itself to more of a subtle performance. Jeff Beck was awesome, and the orchestra and horn sections added a heavier dimension to the all-instrumental songs. I will agree that the inclusion of "Moon River" in the setlist was perhaps ill-advised.
  19. I'm going tonight to the show in Montreal. That review in The Star makes me glad it's a free ticket!
