1- Although hearing of them, I have never really listened to any White Stripes. 2- Sure, Dr. Dog is quite famous, but I just don't get it. 3- I don't care what anybody says, David Lindley is awesome. 4- Miles Davis redefined music for me, man. 5- FUCK the Recording Industry Association of America !!!! Aloha, Brad
  4. http://www.jambands.ca/sanctuary/showtopic.php?tid/250150/ I've been looking forward to this show for a while now. The DoneFors includes two members (the guitarist and bassist) of Mr. Something Something, the drummer from Superstack, and singer-songwriter Janine Stoll. This show is the Ottawa release party for their new CD, "How To Have Sex With Canadians." There's an article about them in XPress this week. Aloha, Brad
  5. I seem to recall someone here mentioning or recommending a show with a version of "New Minglewood Blues" in which Jerry's solo sounds like he's in a completely other dimension; musically, it's outside, 'way freaking outside. I'm sure it was from the 1980s, either '83 or '85, but I can't remember the exact date. Does anyone know the show I mean? Aloha, Brad
  6. I can out-bore Muslix: my mainstay cereal these days is puffed wheat. (Note the singular form of "ingredient.") The stuff is cheap, high in fibre, has no added sugar or colourings, and you can eat buckets of the stuff without consuming too much in the way of carbohydrates. And, in a pinch, you can use it as a replacement for those styrofoam packing peanuts... Aloha, Brad
  7. Also on that bill are Hollerado (who is playing at Dekcuf every Friday in February), Barn Burner, and The Rough Sea. http://www.jambands.ca/sanctuary/showtopic.php?tid/250917/ Aloha, Brad

  13. Downtown record store End Hits is celebrating the return of bus service with a sale this weekend: Aloha, Brad
  14. If I were in Toronto, I'd be at this gig, both to see MSH, and to see "Harmattan Road", which is a new project by Larry Graves, the drummer in Mr. Something Something. Marcus Ali's a great player; I've seen him on baritone sax with Mr. Something Something, and he's a blast to watch and hear. Aloha, Brad
  15. There's an article on them in Ottawa XPress this week. This week's issue also has a review of the new album by Timber Timbre, one of the opening acts for BP's Ottawa show on Friday, and it got 4/5 stars. Aloha, Brad
  16. From the Jan. 26 entry in the "News" category at http://www.babylonclub.ca The Feb. 10 entry in the "Entertainment" category at their website says Aloha, Brad

  19. It looks like we'll have full weekend service starting this Saturday, Feb. 7. http://www.octranspo.com/mapscheds/Contingency/Transit_Riders_Pass_Holders.htm The O-Train and buses are free during weekends in February. Weekday service resumes on Monday, Feb. 9, and outside of rush hour (i.e., mid-day and in the evenings), everything's going to be running; rush-hour service won't be fully restored for a while. Aloha, Brad
