  1. I went shopping today, and needing to fill in a couple of empty spaces in my dinners this week, decided to try homemade pizzas. I bought whole wheat pitas, aged provolone cheese, some back bacon, cherry tomatoes, a Hungarian pepper, and some button mushrooms. My plan is to split the pitas not into semi-circular pockets, but across them edgewise, making two full circles. I have some tomato sauce which I'll use as a base, then pile on the above ingredients, probably with oregano, basil, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (and/or hot sauce). (I'll also whip up a salad and serve it all with a nice red wine. ) My big question is what temperature to cook them at, and for how long. I can fit them in my toaster oven (which I prefer to my big oven), so will probably just set them on the rack (as opposed to a tray). The bread doesn't need to cook, but I'd like the stuff on top to get melted and maybe browned a bit. Can anybody offer some advice? Aloha, Brad
  2. Nor I (albeit not for water) after reading The National Lampoon's Doon. Aloha, Brad
  3. The tickets (#001, both of them ) I bought at the JSB show on Oct. 21 have this reversed. I wonder if that'll make them collector's items, like those stamps that were printed upside down... Aloha, Brad
  4. My guess is that it's to prevent unscrupulous uses of the word. The Canadian Cancer Society would be the ones to provide the final word on what's allowed. Aloha, Brad
  5. I'm figuring that the Dec. 16 date was put on their website back when that was the Ottawa date (which Mavericks still lists), and now that it's Dec. 15, TLF haven't yet updated their website. (But I could be wrong, and it might be The Slip on Dec. 15 and TLF on Dec.16.) Aloha, Brad
  6. The Lovely Feathers tour dates currently list so I assume they'll be on the bill in Ottawa. Aloha, Brad
  7. I'm wondering, though, how well they'll do in that room. If there's decent promotion (and, in particular, [X]press coverage), it could be good, but part of me thinks that room might be too big for the draw they have in Ottawa. (I guess I'm hopeful but not confident.) Aloha, Brad
  8. Interesting. The Mavericks MySpace page lists them as being at Mavericks on Dec. 16, but I guess it just hasn't been updated yet. The jambase listings for The Slip don't include the Dec. 15 or 16 shows, and Barrymore's doesn't have its December calendar up yet. But it still makes me happy. Aloha, Brad
  9. moe. 2003-11-30, from Albany, NY. We went down for a heavy weekend: moe. and then Lynch on Sunday night, then Phish followed by RAQ on Monday night. Our moe. tix were supposed to be at will-call, but weren't for some reason, so panic set in. Luckily, I had a printout of the ticket confirmation, so a stressed-out venue lady took me back to a little office, and the forms were filled out that let us in to the show; I also seem to recall getting further down front than our booked seats were supposed to be. moe., Lynch, Phish, RAQ, and then I went on to Phil Lesh and Bill Frisell in NYC, after which a snowstorm in NYC eliminated my chance to fly in to Toronto (to catch a Dr. Huxtable / Electric Meat set-blender at C'est What), so I ended up taking an overnight bus from NYE to Montreal (as well as a four-hour shuttle bus from Newark Airport back into NYC). Aloha, Brad

    North Korea

According to http://www.cbc.ca/world/story/2006/10/31/korea-nuclear.html North Korea has not, however, said they won't perform any more tests. Aloha, Brad
  11. The math geek in me wants to say, "No, zombies are not real, they're imaginary," but I fear the joke wouldn't resonate with most people... Aloha, Brad
  12. Pardon me for being pedantic, but I think that should be "Werewolves of London". Aloha, Brad
  13. From what I've heard, 0 days is the new -1 days. Happy Birthday! Aloha, Brad
  14. The cover of Ween's "Chocholate Town" by The Tad Hackish Band from Saturday night. Aloha, Brad
  15. Yes' date=' we did play with metalwood at babylon.[/quote'] According to my records, the show was 2001-12-02 (a Sunday). Aloha, Brad
  16. Why would I want to defend myself against zombies? I usually avoid rum/fruit drinks/cocktails like the plague, but if I went to a bar and that was all there was, I'd gladly partake. Now tequila sunrises are definitely something you need to watch out for... Aloha, Brad
  17. Have you never had deep-fried battered fish made with beer batter? Take out the fish, up the amount of beer in the batter (and use something with a strong flavour, like an IPA maybe), and you'd be good to go. Aloha, Brad
  18. They may have. I remember the/a Metalwood show at Babylon, but can't remember if nero opened up. I've got my list of past concert attendances at home, so I'll check tonight. Aloha, Brad
  19. He's an idiot. Once Krisy Kreme gets wind of this' date=' and figures out how to make them, they'll make huge amounts of money; if he could patent it, he'd be able to license the patent to them, and get a share. Aloha, Brad[/quote'] wouldn't he have to get permission from coca-cola to patent a product that they own? He wouldn't be patenting a product, he'd be patenting a process for creating a product, and the patent could easily be phrased to avoid mention of Coca Cola (syrup), but still cover any process that used it. (As well, he wouldn't be patenting a process for making Coca Cola, he'd be patenting a process in which Coca Cola was just one ingredient.) Standard disclaimer: I'm not a lawyer, but have read a bunch of patents (several of which are on my desk right now). Aloha, Brad
  20. According to http://www.cfra.com/headlines/index.asp?cat=1&nid=44081 (In past years, the Tulip Festival has also hosted a pretty good concert line-up.) Aloha, Brad
  21. How about arguments for the bridled use of lawyers? Maybe require lawyers to have two rates, a low one for unbridled use, and higher one that requires them to be bridled when they're working for you. (A lawyer could, with approval of his/her law society, have the rate scales reversed if he/she so desired.) Aloha, Brad
  22. Have you ever seen The Slip? nero opened for them once at Babylon, but I can't remember the date. Aloha, Brad
  23. I think it's more an argument in favour of very careful negotiations of the rights/ownership of creative work, and of the necessity for a well set up estate to administer the rights/ownership in case of the death of the owner(s). Aloha, Brad
  24. BWM, I wonder if it was 2002-07-31, when nero opened for Addison Groove Project? It might also have been 2002-09-20, when nero opened for Drums & Tuba. Aloha, Brad
