cheesehead
I was just thinking about this. What is everyone's favourite, single line from a song? No paragraphs or anything, just one line, sentence, phrase, etc... Tough one, but... Booche
Those top two kick my ass, for so many reasons and I have always loved them. First time I ever hear Roses R Free was Phishs' bust out, Dec11th, and I thought it was an Xmas song, based on being fugged up, close to Xmas, and this line: Take a piece of tinsel and put it on the tree Xmas, get it? Anyways, "Strangers stopping strangers, just to shake their hand" and "the heat came round and busted me for smiling on a cloudy day" (Thanks to Davey-Boy for that one. We were walking home from a video store one day, and he asked me what he thought that line meant. Made me think, Uno?) Dont know why, dont know how, but that's it. Those words seem to spark me in times of need. Story of my life I guess, and a big part of why I love the Dead. They are my soundtrack, even though I hardly listen to them based on years passed............

Phred
One of my favourite lines has always been one written by a friend of mine when he was in a local band calle saddle dogs. The line is from a song called "I'm not listening". I'd like to cut the grapevine at the roots, my ears are tired. I am not sure what it is about that line, but I really like it. Here is the rest of that verse: I'd like to cut the grapevine at the roots, my ears are tired. My head is full of every whisper ever cast on the wind. Someons's always telling me that it is sombody else's fault. But I'm content to sit here and take everything with just a little grain of salt. Mr. Musicface
Oh man, there are about a zillion great lines that I can think of, but probably still the most meaningful lyric to me personally are these two verses: We can walk our road together If our goals are all the same We can run alone and free If we pursue a different aim Let the truth of Love be lighted Let the love of Truth shine clear Sensibility Armed with sense and liberty With the Heart and Mind united In a single perfect sphere Oh and Tara: http://www.angelfire.com/tv/fraggles/audio/downloads.htm! Rob Not Bob
Oddly enough, the song "Tear Stained Letter" contains not only the worst Richard Thompson lyric ever ("Well , I like coffee and I like tea, but I just can't stand this fiddly-dee") but also contains one of my favorites ("She danced on my heart like Arthur Murray, the scars ain't ever gonna mend in a hurry"). Rob Not Bob
quote:Originally posted by paisley: All the years combine They melt into a dream A broken angel sings From a guitarColour me a fool, Paisley, where is that from? I guess I'd go with Gene Clark, this verse always makes me cry : It was more like a dream than reality I must have thought it was a dream when you were here with me When you were here I never thought you would leave When you were gone it was too much to believe But with tomorrow, I will borrow Another moment of joy and sorrow And another dream, and another With tomorrow The again, Gene Clark lyrics always make me cry.
