Ms.Huxtable
That Muppet Show thread got me thinking about other TV show theme songs. What are some of your favorites? Here's 3 of mine: [color:"red"] Now, the world don't move to the beat of just one drum, What might be right for you, may not be right for some. A man is born, he's a man of means. Then along come two, they got nothing but their jeans. But they got, Diff'rent Strokes. It takes, Diff'rent Strokes. It takes, Diff'rent Strokes to move the world. Everybody's got a special kind of story Everybody finds a way to shine, It don't matter that you got, not alot, So what, They'll have theirs, and you'll have yours, and I'll have mine. And together we'll be fine.... Because it takes, Diff'rent Strokes to move the world. Yes it does. It takes, Diff'rent Strokes to move the world. AND [color:"green"] I bet we been together for a million years, And I bet we'll be together for a million more. Oh, It's like I started breathing on the night we kissed, And I can't remember what I ever did before. What would we do baby, Without Us? What would we do baby, Without Us? And there ain't no nothing we can't love each other through. What would we do baby, Without Us? Sha la la la. AND [color:"blue"]Now this is the story all about how, My life got flipped, turned upside down, And I'd like to take a minute, just sit right there, I'll tell you how I became the prince of a town called Bel Air. In West Philadelphia I was born and raised On the playground is where I spent most of my days. Chillin' out, maxin', relaxin all cool, And all shootin' some b-ball outside of the school. When a couple of guys who were up to no good, Started makin' trouble in my neighborhood. I got in one little fight and my mom got scared, And said "You're movin' with your auntie and uncle in bel Air." I whistled for a cab, and when it came near, The license plate said "fresh" and it had dice in the mirror. If anything I could say that this cat was rare, But I thought "Nah forget it, Yo home to Bel Air." I pulled up to the house about seven or eight, and I yelled to the cabby "Yo homes, smell ya later." Looked at my kingdom, I was finally there, To sit on my throne as the Prince of Bel Air.

Rob Not Bob
The 70s had some classics, my favorites (I think they were both done by Quincy Jones) were Sanford & Son and Fat Albert & The Cosby Kids. I don't know if anyone remembers the short lived Saturday morning cartoon from the late 90s Space Goofs, but it had a totally rockin' theme song by Iggy Pop. My recent favorite is Schooly D's theme song to Aqua Teen Hunger Force. Great instrumental ones include Homicide, Oz and The Tick.RnBNahhh, nahhh, nahhh, gonna have a good time! paisley
always had this stuck somewhere in the back of my head: Astro Boy Opening theme: Soaring high in the sky, He may be small but only in size. AstroBoy, AstroBoy, He is brave and gentle and wise! Stronger Than all the rest, this mighty robot will pass the test, Oh villans fear him, so we cheer him, The amazing AstroBoy! When you need someone strong, Our robot friend will never be long. AstroBoy, AstroBoy, He will try to right any wrong! When there's danger near by, No matter who, what, where, when or why. He'll defend us, he'll defend us, The amazing AstroBoy! Closing theme: Come and join us in a melody, A song of happiness for you and me. Sing of joy, sing about a boy, Little hero, AstroBoy! Come and join us in a fantasy, We can all be heros, you and me. Sing of joy, sing about a boy, Little hero, AstroBoy! Lighting up the way for all, For soon he will fight for right, Strong as steel and with a heart of gold. Sing of glory, Pour your heart our, Your voices will be heard, And it's raining out with love for all. also love the theme music to (as BradM said) Barney Miller and more recently Law and Order

Jaimoe
MASH TV series - Suicide Is Painless ( Instrumental version ) Here's the lyrics from the movie: Suicide Is Painless Mike Altman & Johnny Mandell Through early morning fog I see Visions of the things to be The pains that are withheld for me I realize and I can see That suicide is painless It brings on many changes And I can take or leave it if I please Try to find a way to make All our little joys relate Without that ever present hate But now I know that it's too late And that suicide is painless It brings on many changes And I can take or leave it if I please The game of life is hard to play I'm going to lose it anyway The losing card I'll someday lay So this is all I have to say That suicide is painless It brings on many changes And I can take or leave it if I please The only way to win is cheat And lay it down before I'm beat And to another give a seat For that's the only painless feat 'Cause suicide is painless It brings on many changes And I can take or leave it if I please The sword of time will pierce our skins It doesn't hurt when it begins But as it works it's way on in The pain grow stronger watch it grin For suicide is painless It brings on many changes And I can take or leave it if I please A brave man once requested me To answer questions that are key Is it to be or not to be And I replied "Oh why ask me." Cause suicide is painless It brings on many changes And I can take or leave it if I please; And you can do the same thing if you please. Got kind of tired packing and unpacking, Town to town and up and down the dial Maybe you and me were never meant to be, But baby think of me once in awhile. I'm at WKRP in Cincinnati.. Rob Not Bob
I dare anyone to come up with the lyrics to the end theme for WKRP In Cincinnati by Detective (AKA The Scum Of The Earth) ... not the more familiar opening theme, but the totally incomprehensible theme that played over the end credits. PalacePrincess
*ahem* Wonder Woman, Wonder Woman. All the world's waiting for you, and the power you possess. In your satin tights, Fighting for your rights And the old Red, White and Blue. Wonder Woman, Wonder Woman. Now the world is ready for you, and the wonders you can do. Make a hawk a dove, Stop a war with love, Make a liar tell the truth. Wonder Woman, Get us out from under, Wonder Woman. All our hopes are pinned on you. And the magic that you do. Stop a bullet cold, Make the Axis fall, Change their minds, and change the world. Wonder Woman, Wonder Woman. You're a wonder, Wonder Woman. i also always loved the mr. dressup theme song. no words, but such an exciting piano piece! and OF COURSE, the inspiration to this whole thread, THE MUPPET SHOW THEME SONG!!! years ago, one of the girls in my ballet class & i made up a dance to said song, complete with muppet-esque moves... it was pretty freakin' hilarious, especially taking into account the whole thing was done in tutus with pointe shoes. hahahaha OH, and at blair & mudd's wedding, i caught one of the musicians busting into it on the beach! yet another highlight! as was the picture of mudd with a BEAUTIFUL 80's mullet, but that's a whole other thread....heehee

RnB Actually, the end credits were jibberish, and done that way intentionally. They weren't done by Scum either - Michael Des Barres on vocals. Here's what I found: " The closing theme also has music by Tom Wells. The nonsense lyrics were probably mostly improvised by the singer. According to Steve Marshall at the Museum of Television and Radio's WKRP seminar (March 4, 1994), the singer of the closing theme was named Jimmy Ellis." Can't stay for long. Just turn around, and I'm gone again. Maybe tomorrow, I'll want to settle down. Until tomorrow, I'll just keep movin' on. So, if you want to join me for awhile, just grab your hat, and we'll travel light. That's hobo style. Maybe tomorrow, I'll want to settle down. Until tomorrow, I'll just keep movin' on.
