scottieking
Just a quick poll. Roughly guestimate the percentage of CD's you purchased this year versus the number you burned.Purchased -5%Burned - 95%
Dr_Evil_Mouse
That's seems about right for me, esp. if you count stuff on the Archive. I no longer have access to the huge selection at Brantford or Toronto Public Libraries this year (what's with the seemingly huge wait lists for CDs here in Ottawa?), so the ripping has gone on a bit of a hiatus. phorbesie
i still buy cds *gasp*! it's kinda fun. 95% buying 5% burning. i haven't even installed the burner on my new computer yet (2 months later) and i only got a burner for the first time this summer. i just realized that live shows mostly don't count since you can't buy them right? so as far as studio albums, i always buy them...i've never downloaded one off the internet. although occasionally will burn one off of a friend. however, the original question was just a straight up %, so i'd say for that 75% buy, 25% burn. jayr
95% Burned5% BoughtIf CD's weren't $30 a pop i'd buy more, It's hard to be motivated when blank cd's are like 50 cents each.
Guest Low Roller
I tend to preview discs via illicit means, and if I like it enough to make it part of my permenant collection then I go out and buy it.I'm assuming you're not talking about live shows, because those are pretty much 100% burned. dave-O
I'd guess I'm close to 50-50, and my number of purchases is way up because of the amount of *free previews* I download.
Velvet
Purchased - 100%Burned - 0%This is not a moral stance, it's one of ignorance.
bradm
Can we have a separate category for people, like me, who, in essence, produce CDs (or material that can be turned into CDs)? It won't help me figure out the numbers, because I lost track of things a long time ago...Aloha,Brad

Jaimoe
99% purchased. I don't like loaning out albums for someone to burn either, with a few exceptions.
Ms.Huxtable
Great question and I'm surprised by the answers. I have personally bought 100% and burned 0%. Our house and car however are FULL of burned disks. Wasn't me though.

Dr_Evil_Mouse
Apparently it's a vehicle for people to exploit your privacy for economic gain. Two US Groups Suing Sony over Spyware on CDs. (I'm guessing this would still be problem on burned CDs...).
