Freak By Night
From that site:Average Age at Death of Included Rock Stars: 36.9 Average Age at Death of Americans: 75.8 Years That's classic "lying with statistics". They should have included the ages of rock stars who died later in life as part of the first number for a more realistic comparison. It would still be invalid however, as rock has only been around for about 50 years (i.e. there no 90 year rock stars around to bring up the average). Dr_Evil_Mouse
shitidiot, you bastard, I was just about to get some work done, and then you throw something like this out there... . Nice one, too, BradM . I remember being taken to a big evangelical youth event in Ohio when I was the tender age of 14 and being given a list like this (along with big flipcharts of symbols common to the world of rock and roll, including the peace symbols, which of course was pagan and evil). I wish I'd known then, of course, anything in context (I think I'd just discovered the Who that year, and sort of knew who Hendrix was). The guy actually claimed that Janis Joplin died from shooting peanut butter. This was also in the heyday of the back-masking craze (you know, play the record backwards and you hear Satan telling you to do things). I kid you not - when they played Stairway to Heaven forwards, they ran it out of these dinky little speakers at the front of the room, but when they ran the clip backwards, not only did they tell us what to expect (which I've now forgotten, I sure to the peril of my eternal soul), but they cut in a subwoofer for added effect. Manipulative and deceitful. It would be funny if so many people didn't take it so seriously. I've since given a lot of thought to becoming a professional heckler at these events (but somebody would no doubt rationalise a way around not murdering me). bald guy in a blanket
That is the greatest website ever!But...if they included the rest of the Stones the rest of the Who and Bob Dylan alone the average would skyrocket. It just seems to me that God has been trying to kill Kieth Richards since the 70s and he (HE) just can't get it done.Jef
bradm
The trick would be to heckle with pre-defined phrases, crafted so that they sound like heckling when played forwards, but are actually pro-religious when played backwards...Aloha,Brad

Birdy
whoa.. kinda top heavy for being a tad bit hungover this morning..i love the 'fear factor' crazy Christians play up.. "would you rather go to hell and burn forever in a lake of fire?".. holy. the mind that is able to legitimately and most seriously ask a person this kind of question is one fucked up mind. bradm
Actually, V, given how rarely you perform in public, you're on the list of reclusive rock stars. Aloha, Brad Edited February 3, 2006 by Guest Add emoticon.

Blurry
Ha ha....that is pretty funny. Man rock stars have it good! The comparison seems really credible too!! Maybe they should've been comparing the avg death age of rock stars vs. the avg age of children under 10 who die!?!?!or Maybe just compare 'em to the avg death age of Jesus and his disciples! boiler
there no 90 year rock stars around to bring up the average Isn't Keith Richards around 90. He doesn't look a day older than 120.
