NewRider
everything I thought about (many things) ....came into reality...it blew my mind.to be fair, if you planned on going to the gym with your ipod yesterday then you probably already knew you'd get "sick beats" and sweaty men. timouse
i was prompted by several people to get this and check it out...tied in to the "what the #$@%& do we know" idea that at the level of the very very very exceedingly small, you have an influence on the events surrounding you. the secret seems to take this one step further...whatever you think about, you get. if you think abundance, you get abundance. if you fixate on negative, you get negative.it's something that i have incorporated in to my life, and in to my thought patterns...having an awareness of when i'm psyching myself out or setting myself up for a bad outcome allows me to change the way i think about these things, which seems to result in better things happenning.sorry, that's a bit confusing.short version - think good, good happens. think bad, bad happens.therefore, think good. NewRider
I downloaded this and went through it but I still have a hard time buying into it. I'm going to start thinking positively a lot more. Thinking positively always makes me feel good, that's nothing new to me. I just have a hard time believing that everyone that hopes and wishes and prays for money, love and health will GET IT! I don't think that means those people aren't "in tune with the universe". Bad things will happen to people that think positively. Yes, it's a great idea to think positively but my lottery tickets still come up losers. I'm skeptical but I'm giving it a try. bradm
I read Robert Anton Wilson's Prometheus Rising a few years ago, and in it, he had an interesting three-part exercise. For a week, keep track of how many coins you find on the street/sidewalk. The next week, as you walk around, earnestly believe you'll find coins, and keep track of how many you find. The third week, as you walk around, earnestly believe you won't find coins, and keep track of how many you find.Aloha,Brad
MarcO
the power of positive thinking doesn't mean as much to me as the power of logical thinking. And if you aim to see the world as logically and unfiltered as you can, you come to realize that there are both positive and negative forces at work, as it should be in any dynamic situation (life being the most dynamic of all). So, to choose to think positively becomes itself a negative choice, as you choose to filter the world through what we would call "rose coloured glasses". It's actually more positive to bear witness, coldly and clinically, to the negative. Denial is negative, awareness is positive. At least that's how I feel.I am as suspicious of "positive" people as I am annoyed by "negative" people.
Dr_Evil_Mouse
Agreed with the importance of logical thinking. The danger with "positive" thinking is that it can sometimes be blinkered and lead people to stomp all over other people and not notice it. Dr. J
Only read and watched what was posted here , but what these folks ("The Secret") are saying has been around in many forms (some religious/some not) for many years. It starts with the basic notion that the universe conspires to make us happy and once we believe that and think/act accordingly it happens.Personally, I do believe is there an elemental truth at work here. The problem comes when people (incl myself) apply only part of the process. There is a path to happiness for everyone (which we control), but there are no short cuts. allison
You'd think this was rocket science. What bugs me about this-and ya I watched/listened to the video last night-is that its so biased to personal gain- and personal gain that is really just the weakest of human comforts at that-money, success, love etc.I'm not saying that I don't like or wnat those things aswell-its just I would really prefer had bigger goals. It could be argued that making your self happy is the first step in making others happy and that The Secret, as people use it and benefit from it, will expand into a greater mass of people bent on positivity. But I doubt it.Success does not make a person nessecarily beneficiantLove does not neccesarily make a person more empatheticWealth is not in and of itself a positive thing. On a lighter note, as I was watching the video, working on a project, and chatting to someone ,I sent this email, sans appropriate punctuation;"I'm watching the secret. So so flaky cultish good vibes but also sort of fascinating in a me, me ,me way.We should make Scott watch it."They answered back...."The deodorant stick on your night table won't move even if you keep watching it. Perhaps it's a cultish activity, and even flakey at times (try the new Clear Glide), but I don't know if you'll get Scott to watch it, he gets restless."HilariousOh ya and one of the guys in the video was also in What the Bleep
Ms Zimmy
anyone else on here catch wind of this phenomenon and shell out 5 bucks to watch it?its totally worth one watch... in the very least, it will make you a more positive thinker, and help you eleminate negative thoughts throughout your day. i was a skeptic...but today, i used their "secret" and it totally worked... my mind is blown.... shocking coincedence? perhaps. eitherway, i will continue to implement it, and see where it goes..... If you tell me "the secret" I will give you 4$
faoy
It’s the power of suggestion, like hypnosis. Sure it works, but not all the time, and usually not for the people that need it the most. You need to have hope to believe in that shit and a lot of people in this world have passed that point. Myself, I’m sitting on the fence.

faoy
You need to have hope to believe in that shit and a lot of people in this world have passed that point.I'm intrigued by this but don't know how to respond. Can you develop this thought a bit further?I will when I return.Okay MarcO, you asked.A lot of people around the world, and I’m thinking a majority, have been dealt a pretty shitty hand. When I look at the situation here in Hamilton, and I grew up around poverty, I can’t help but notice a lot of people that have been stripped of their dignity. I feel the people I’m describing have given up hope and around the time they reached adulthood they started feeling it was meant to be. I’m sure it’s the same on many levels whether it’s poverty, abuse, war, famine, etc..I think people that have given up their passions, hope, trust, self-worth, and desire, will never achieve successful results from positive thinking tools on the pretext that positive thinking will produce the results they need. It’s much more complicated for people that have been shun by society their entire lives. Now don’t get me wrong, I believe people can turn their lives around for the better. Work towards a positive life starts from within, from educating oneself on how they got where they are. Sure positive thinking is a bonus but sometimes that takes a lot of work for people, and it’s only a small part of the bigger picture. The power of suggestion is a very powerful tool that can generate positive (and negative) outcomes. It only works if you truly believe in the tools you’re using. Whether it’s a positive thinking seminar, a teacher, or sessions with a hypnotherapist, no one will achieve 100% results unless they believe 100%. How can you trust in anything and believe in it if you lack passion, hope, trust, self-worth, and desire? I don’t think you truly can. Maybe for a quick fix but that’s all you’ll get.I hope I’m clear. It kind of hurt my brain when I read through it. boogieknight
I've been experimenting with this for a little while now and I have been proven over and over again that it works.I started with really random stuff. Parking spots, phone calls, traffic lights. What I found was that the earlier I could think about it, the more likely it would happen.Say I know in the morning I'm going shopping. If I thought about getting a parking spot then, a few hours before, then it was more likely to happen then if I just thought about it on my way out. What I also learned is the bigger the thing, the more time the universe needed to make it happen. Hard rock porn stars are not made over night. Think about it, people that become rock stars generally, think about being a rock star all the time. They thought about from a very young age, imagined what it would be like, practising all the time, basically obsessed by it. I would guess that Jimi Hendrix thought about guitar almost all the time, they say he even slept with his guitar. Now what do you think about most of the time? I would bet that if you looked at what you really think about most of the time, you'll find that this is what you spend most of your time doing. Now this isn't some kind of voodoo magic. What I think is that the more you think about something, really visualizing and feeling what it would be like achieving that goal, the more you do to make it actually happen. It reminds me a bit of the prankster analogy of people having their own movies. You start to become an active participant in your own movie, both the actor and the writer. Good Luck with bingo Julia. I will start thinking about you winning, to see if that helps.I picked the date that I'm going to win bingo. For me I think that it will take a few months before I can pull off a bingo win. boogieknight
I've tried it countless times with parking spots. Lately I've been batting 100% if I think about it at least 1-2 hour before. At first it was just good parking spots. Now I think about the exact spot I want. One time I didn't have change so I thought about getting it free. I was expecting to find some change but to my surprise the meter was out over order. As for winning the lotto, the bigger the thing, the more time it takes. Right now I'm focusing on winning some TV bingo. I'll let you know how it goes.

People obsess about music all their lives and it never happens. They practice all day every day and they'll never get a deal. Bad example I think.
