AD
As far as getting the rock across to the people, I'd vote both Bon Scott and Brian Johnson as runners-up (although not at the top of the list). They were / are rawkers that get the job done!
Ms Zimmy
What about Bobby? Or is he considered folk?

Blane
THis thread is looking a bit like a historians' convention. How about some contemporary voices? I'll submit these two boys: M. Ward (click for a track): http://www.matadorrecords.com/mpeg/m_ward/m_ward_vincent.mp3 Jim James (well, since everyone's hear MMJ, here's a duet between Matt and Jim): http://www.somuchsilence.com/mp3/mward_magic_trick.mp3

SmoothedShredder
Eddie Vedder:::runs for cover:::awesome rock singer. right up there with the greats, IMO.For sure. When all the chip are on the table, and we get to see the full scope of this guys career... he'll be right near the top, if not the top Rock Singer of all time. He's already played with anyone and everyone who's mattered, and maintained an incredible sense of integrity considering how huge the band got right off the bat.Following Pearl Jams career has been one of the highlights of my life for sure.
