bradm
I wonder if Steely Dan playing Montreal Jazz Fest suggests that they'll be booked? They've been booked, but for the Jazz Festival instead of the Blues Festival.http://www.jambase.com/Articles/Story.aspx?StoryID=13375includes07/05/08 Sat Ottawa Jazz Festival Ottawa, ONAloha,Brad Edited March 25, 2008 by Guest

Big Wooly Mammoth
that must just be a typo as the jazzfest will be over by then. bluesest starts on July 3.As I've mentioned before, my wife is a huge James Taylor fan, so we bought tix for him at Tanglewood on July 3 and 4. That was before his summer tour was announced. I knew that we'd be missing the first weekend of Bluesfest, but this is shaping up to be a stellar lineup. So far, I'll be missing Stevie Wonder, Steely Dan, Kruger Brothers. this is painful... If Panic is indeed playing Bluesfest and it's before July 6, we're going to have some serious negotiations (she is also a big Panic fan).
Schwa.
According to the unnamed and therefore not yet credible sources, Bluesfest is in negotiations to have Metallica play. This is where Schwa chimes in, I do believe. bagochips
Right you are, BWM. No mention of an Ottawa date on Steely Dan's web site:Jul 01 - Festival International de Jazz de Montreal - Montreal, QC | on sale nowJul 02 - Festival International de Jazz de Montreal - Montreal, QC | on sale nowJul 04 - Casino Rama - Toronto ON | on sale TBA < changed

Big Wooly Mammoth
fwiw, on the Sandbox, Toronto is a rumored summer date - July 9. That rumor might be based on an actual Bluesfest date (hopefully for us Ottawa folk!) as opposed to a Toronto date. Or they could be playing both cities. Big Wooly Mammoth
it's the WSP version of "the sanctuary" It's been around for a while - used to be an email distribution list. I check it out for rumours these days. Most of the threads are some complaint or other about how bad Jimmy is (you still see people slagging George), how this isn't really Panic, how bad the new album is, etc... Anyways, the rumours there are calling for Toronto and Montreal shows this summer. www.panicfreaks.org

Northern Wish
Luke Doucet told me Friday night that he'll be on one of the smaller stages at Bluesfest- but I didn't get an actual date. And his set at Barrymores was smokin, I would highly recommend him to fans of the Sadies or Neil Young.
boiler
That's a hell of a lineup. A lot of diversity. Bluesfest will never have a boring lineup if they keep such a mix of music. Can't wait. There's some names there I don't know, that's always fun.

Big Wooly Mammoth
If Steely Dan is playing Bluesfest they sure don't want anybody to know about it yet. The date has been removed from their myspace page and I just saw this :[Editor's note: Per a request from Steely Dan's publicist, the itinerary below was modified on March 27 as follows: the Ottawa date was removed; the originally scheduled June 28 show in Philadelphia was moved to Camden, NJ; and a June 18 show at New York City's Beacon Theater was added. A real disco diva! Rad!However if there is any lawnchair people bitching about wanting to sit through a set of bumptastic disco I will have to cannibalize them...No joke!
