bouche Posted October 7, 2008 Report Posted October 7, 2008 http://www.voteforenvironment.ca/interesting site. they'll tell you who to vote for if you can't decide.
Jaimoe Posted October 7, 2008 Report Posted October 7, 2008 http://www.voteforenvironment.ca/interesting site. they'll tell you who to vote for if you can't decide. That's not necessarily true Mike. The site lists key areas as well as encourages people to strategic-vote, i.e., don't waste your Green (leftist) vote in tight ridings with Conservatives.
bouche Posted October 7, 2008 Author Report Posted October 7, 2008 hmmm....well, if you put in your postal code, they tell you who to vote for.
Jaimoe Posted October 7, 2008 Report Posted October 7, 2008 It tells you who the favourite is and to vote accordingly as long as your vote is against the Conservative Party candidate.
Basher Posted October 7, 2008 Report Posted October 7, 2008 [color:purple]Phew, I was hoping there was a website out there that would tell me who to vote for based on my postal code.
Jaimoe Posted October 7, 2008 Report Posted October 7, 2008 You got a problem with that? Are you kidding? I hate the Three Asshole Amigos more than life itself: Harper, Flaherty and that fathead fucker Baird.
bouche Posted October 7, 2008 Author Report Posted October 7, 2008 for my postal code it told me to vote either Bloc or Liberal. Between the two, I could vote with my heart.
Jaimoe Posted October 7, 2008 Report Posted October 7, 2008 I'm switching back to the Libs from 5 years of supporing the NDP. I'm in Layton's riding, but I've become less enamoured with him recently.
ForbinHood Posted October 7, 2008 Report Posted October 7, 2008 Please vote for health care people... if nothing else. You would not believe what the situations are like in Northern Ontario until you live them.
Jaimoe Posted October 7, 2008 Report Posted October 7, 2008 Please vote for health care people... if nothing else. You would not believe what the situations are like in Northern Ontario until you live them.I know about some of the conditions in the north. My cousin John is a GP and he quit his successful practise in Kingston to treat people in isolated and poorer northern communities. He flies around Northern Ontario 5 days a week and he finds his job rewarding and meaningful. Before he left, he feuded with local politicians in Kingston - sometimes in print in the Kingston Whig - regarding underfunding towards GP doctors etc... so he left to find something more enriching.
Big Wooly Mammoth Posted October 7, 2008 Report Posted October 7, 2008 You got a problem with that? Are you kidding? I hate the Three Asshole Amigos more than life itself: Harper' date=' Flaherty and that fathead fucker Baird.[/quote']Clement ain't too far behind. Baird really fucked Ottawa and it's transit plan dues to his grudge against his old nemesis Chiarelli.I'm in a safe Liberal riding (as confirmed by the above web site) so I'm voting with my heart - Green. I used to support the NDP, but no I do not like their current platform. And Jack doesn't know what he's talking about when he says that carbon taxes will increase prices on everything. That just plays right into Harper's hands. Almost all economists agree that carbon taxes are the way to go (along with cap and trade to some degree). The problem with the Liberal's plan is that their carbon tax is way too low.

Baird really fucked Ottawa and it's transit plan dues to his grudge against his old nemesis Chiarelli.Clement is my #4, although you an rotate him in with any of the 3 too and I'd be okay with it.
Freak By Night Posted October 7, 2008 Report Posted October 7, 2008 You people probably haven't heard of Cheryl Gallant. She's gotta be in the top 3 of bad Conservative MPs. She couldn't even be bothered last night to show up for an all-candidates meeting in Deep River.
Velvet Posted October 8, 2008 Report Posted October 8, 2008 Lots of the New Conservatives aren't showing up for the local debates. It's likely they've been told not to.
Velvet Posted October 8, 2008 Report Posted October 8, 2008 As a side note, I think we should be careful to refer to Harper's party as the New Conservatives. After all, that's what they called themselves when they folded the Alliance/Reform and started their new party. This ain't Sir John A. McDonald's party.
SaggyBalls Posted October 8, 2008 Report Posted October 8, 2008 That would be the Progressive Canadian Party. The vote for environment page gives strategic voters some good information to mull over......and if you're in a riding like mine (Leeds-Grenville) it'll tell you to vote for whoever you want to vote for - Which really should be how people vote anyway. That's the real essence of democracy and it's a shame that that's being diluted more and more instead of people making more of a difference when it's not election time.I'm not into voting against. I voted for.Gotta love advanced polls.
Freak By Night Posted October 8, 2008 Report Posted October 8, 2008 That site may as well be called "voteforliberals.ca"
jaybone Posted October 8, 2008 Report Posted October 8, 2008 The Liberal candidate in my riding is not my favourite candidate. Garth Turner is a former Conservative who got booted and is now with the Liberals. My riding is very close and I don't want to give the Cons any more seats so it looks like I'll be voting for Garth.
Birdy Posted October 8, 2008 Report Posted October 8, 2008 And Canadians will be forever destined to have only two options on the political stage - the Liberals and Conservatives.
bradm Posted October 8, 2008 Report Posted October 8, 2008 And Canadians will be forever destined to have only two options on the political stage - the Liberals and Conservatives.Maybe on the federal political stage.Aloha,Brad
Thorgnor Posted October 8, 2008 Report Posted October 8, 2008 I hate the way the ridings are drawn... my riding will likely go Conservative however the most socialist neighbourhood in the city is consumed within London West instead of Central... fucking awful, my vote is always a waste if it's not liberal (Sue Barnes).
Davey Boy 2.0 Posted October 8, 2008 Report Posted October 8, 2008 a former colleague of my dad wrote a book about the need for electoral reform for precisely that reason, Trogi tend to agree with the idea of casting votes straight up the ladder (as I thiiiiink they do in the US? Could be way off on this though), seems much more democratic
