Cosmic ChrisC
Grimes had one of the most absurd lineups I've ever seen, complete with a very strung out looking guy dancing around the stage. Thing is, he wasn't much of a dancer, which just added to the absurdity of it. I felt like I was watching an SNL sketch.Yeah I read a review about this show on apt613.ca . Would have liked to see that, just for the absurdity of it.

She was having a hard time reading the lights on her mixer in the sun. Also, the bass was wayyyyyyyy too high at her stage. I like the bass high in the mix, but my nostrils were vibrating and I felt like I was in the backseat of a Camaro.

ollie
Was anyone else at The Hold Steady last night? I can't believe how small the crowd was!!Not as small as the crowd for Sugar Ray headlining at the Black Sheep stage though. The blues acts are taking a huge hit this year. bouche
I was there...I thought it was a pretty good sized crowd, more than I can remember from the last time. Nothing compared to Sheep Dogs a little later though.
ollie
It must have filled in once they started, it was pretty sparse at the front right up until they hit the stage. Nice sticker on Craig's guitar.

Cosmic ChrisC
had to create a gallery page for iron maiden photos. i signed a waiver so hosting images on flickr might have been against that. Gallery is accessible through the review: http://blog.jambands.ca/blog/2012/7/8/alice-cooper-and-iron-maiden-bring-the-heavy-to-ottawa-blues.htmlGreat pics Mike!!! Lucky guy for getting so close to Maiden!! How long were you able to stay there? We saw you take pictures at Hold Steady yesterday.During the Sheepdogs, I felt like I was at Woodstock. Those guys are right outta that decade. I've never listened to them and don't know much about them except for the cover of the Rolling Stone.I didn't like Arty the DJ at the Electro stage. Felt a little too "cheap dance club" to me.Yeah, people complain about the lack of blues but there are blues acts every day, many under attended.Guess I'll check out A-Track tonight. There's nothing I want to see today.

How long were you able to stay there?3 songs. their stage director told us how the show would start, how the band would come out and to stay well back because there would be pyrotechnics. but i don't remember any explosions anywhere in the first 3 tunes. That might have been the best set of the festival. Total electric guitar porn.I still can't wrap my head around Skrillex. Last year's show on the River stage was a lot more accessible and I enjoyed the vibe. This year the crowd was just massive and it was surreal standing way, way back on the lawn watching one little dude on stage "spin records". It was both impressive and really depressing. But I feel like anything negative I have to say is eclipsed by the mammoth popularity of this scene. I can only bow down in awe.
