Velvet
I know it's early but I'm willing to start. I see Tom Petty is playing Toronto on July 15th with plenty of time off beforehand. Here's hoping he'll be paying LeBreton Plats next summer, it would be a good score for Bluesfest.
Pablo Sanchez
I hear this is a lock again this year: Lobster skinned drunk Vanierian ready to ROCK to classic rock hero and/or fist fight about it. My source is solid!
Velvet
Took me a minute to get "Vanierian". It's fun to pronounce.
Freak By Night
Really going out on a limb here, so don't get your hopes up, but I think there's a chance Blue Rodeo will make a rare appearance at the Bluefest. Just a hunch. Pablo Sanchez

Rob Not Bob
Damn it, I wanted to be the first with a totally unfounded Tom Petty rumour. Sorry folks, I think I might have jinxed it. Since i was going to be in Toronto, I was figuring this would be the year they finally get Tom Petty. As it turns out, I will still be in Ottawa and likely actually going to Bluesfest this year, so it probably won't happen, just to spite me. Mea culpa, mea maxima culpa. Rob Not Bob
I am going to predict that, by the end of it, I will be incredibly sore but have had an awesome time. Optimism!
Northern Wish
I'd bank on more Canadian talent than usual given the 150th anniversary of Confederation. Or at least I'd like to see that happen.
Rob Not Bob
Taking Blue Rodeo off the table, who would you figure would be the most likely Canadian headliners?

Rob Not Bob
Rush are extremely unlikely to ever tour again, so I'd say no.

Hope so, but I doubt it. Agreed that there will be much Canadiana on the bill this summer and while they will spin it as a celebration of 150, I'm guessing it will actually be because of the low Canadian dollar. For Canadian talent they could get...maybe Neil? Bryan Adams is in Europe, Billy Talent will already have come through town, The Hip are obviously out of the picture. Of course Blue Rodeo will be there. Maybe The Weeknd (missp?). I'm surprised they've never mined the wealth of b-level retro Canadian acts like Trooper, Loverboy, April Wine, David Wilcox, Platinum Blonde, Honeymoon Suite...that sort of thing. I'm not saying they should, but they've gotta go down that road eventually, no?

Velvet
Bam! Lineup is out, and it looks like they siphoned most of the money towards one act: https://www.ottawabluesfest.ca
