  1. A special announcement regarding this gig. The bad news is Drawbar (fatties keyboard player) is going to be away, skiing with his family. THe good news is Tyler (the original fatties keyboard player) is flying in from Vancouver, and will be playing the full show with the boys!! This brings me great excitement. This is a real and rare treat folks. Any of you old schoolers out there will remember Tyler and his talent. Very much looking forward to this weekend! Peace, sara
  2. Oh my gosh... this just gave me chills. I can't believe that this has happened. Far too young indeed. I am full of sadness for all that loved him. To Mark and the rest of the HM crew please know that my thoughts are with you. Please also give a big hug for me to Joanie. What a shock...
  3. I find MoMack and d_rawk's arguments persuasive... Damn you for making me question my own assumptions!
  4. Wishing ((((comfort and joy)))) for all you fine folks!
  5. Damn, I always seem to miss these gals. I've been wanting to catch them for so long. Alas, both Todd and I are at home right now with the stomach flu, so we'll spare the rest of you and unfortunately pass...
  6. This is absolutely fantastic news!! Nice job Bri! My introduction to this band was the last PJ show, which totally knocked my socks off. This past summer I saw them again at Bonnarroo (sans Jimmy) and they were still so damn good. The ticket price is more than generous as well. I will be at this show come hell or high water!! And to be able to see them again at the Pepperjacks? What a treat! Anyone who missed them the last time they were in HAMILTON of all places, better now pass them up this time! We should definitely creat a separate codetalkers forum!! (just kidding...on all fronts)
  7. Happy birthday Karen. If this is the Karen that I think it is, then yes I always enjoy running into you. Dance on!
  8. From the Smart Growth Network's listserve: *Host an Inconvenient Truth House Party* > > Al Gore's new movie, An Inconvenient Truth, was released on DVD last week, and more than a million copies were sold in the first five days. > Because we think everyone should see this movie, we've joined with several organizations including CodePink, Moveon.org and Sierra Club to > organize An Inconvenient Truth house parties. Thousands of house parties will take place around the world on Saturday, Dec. 16 at 7 p.m. > EST/4 p.m. PST. After you view the film, dial-in for a live conference call with Al Gore! 9. I don't think I've ever heard you guys play in St. Kitts. Could be interesting. Hoping to run into Mike and Shanti, and maybe Yo.
  10. I echo Amy's sentiments. Best wishes to you.
  11. I think it's generally useful to read through/skim through an entire thread, if one wants to accurately interpret the context of a single post. Having said that, I probably shouldn't have used the word mandatory. My only real point (in reference to the original question) is that I don't see much wrong with flowers put at the side of the road. If they give the one who placed them there, a sense of peace.. so be it.
  12. i didn't find it particularly funny either... grant it i'm tired and cheesy
  13. I don't agree with a mandatory plaque implemented by the government. Now that's weird and creepy as far as I'm concerned. Who decides who is "worthy" of a commemorated plaque after all? But families or friends, or even sympathetic strangers paying tribute with a flower or two, I really don't see the harm in that.
  14. Wow is all I have to say to some of the above comments... I agree completely with everything Birdy said. Grief is a personal thing. I would certainly disagree with the comment that the majority of memorials "littered" at the side of the road are put there by strangers. I have lost a friend in a car accident, and while I do not leave flowers behind (as I have other ways of remembering/paying tribute), I cannot even begin to imagine lecturing someone about the way in which they process their grief. Death and grieving should not have to be hidden. There are lots of things in life that bother me, or make me feel uncomfortable. I deal with it, or choose to ignore it. It's all part and parcel of sharing this world with others I figure.
  15. Yeah Hux, I was having issues last night. I just figured it was just me. I seem to have problems accessing this board sporadically though... I also use Windows XP
  16. Congrats Cully. Pretty cool that you're able to work with Gavin too!
  17. Yes, please do post that website Deb when it becomes available.
  18. Todd and I will be at the Hamilton show. Hey Shane/Kenny, will we be able to get our tickets at the door? Looking forward to it!
  19. McDonald's... saving the world, one distended belly at a time...
  20. YOu're welcome guys. I had never heard of him either Stone Mountain. I just came across him by chance. I was staying with Tyler (former and original keyboard player of the Fat Cats), and I went out to see a band that he plays with sporadically one night. Dan was the first act on that bill, and I was really glad that I got there early enough to see him. I went to purchase a CD, but he didn't have any change at the time and decided to give it to me for a reduced price. In return I said that I would give him a plug on this board. I was totally impressed. While he was singing I kept thinking there was something familiar about him. I almost thought he sounded a bit like Dave Matthews (particularly his upper register), but I'm not so sure if that's quite right either... David Francey is great too Dr. J. My uncle introduced me to him some time ago... good stuff!
