  1. Well, had an amazing time at the fest. Great space, great people, and great performances. Here's what I caught: The Acorn (good set, though I think their previous set with Bon Iver was better) Blitzen Trapper (suffered a bit from being in a severely overpacked Tipi, but they rocked out) Bob Log III (fun stuff) The Broken Family Band (very fun) Dirty Projectors (meh, not as impressed as I hoped I'd be) Explosions In The Sky (awesomeness. can't wait to see these guys again) Fleet Foxes (incredible set. Perfect venue for them. So much better than last time I saw them) Jarvis Cocker and Richard Hawley DJ set (unimpressive) The Leisure Society (great discovery. A local band from brighton who make lovely sounds) Loney, Dear (fun band) The Low Anthem (excellent!) Magnolia Electric Co. (good show, not fantastic though) Neko Case (great set. Didn't go in expecting much but she was great) Okkervil River (another great set. really well received and high energy) Shearwater (can't really remember to be honest!) Steve Earle (great set. did a lot of Townes Van Zandt stuff which I love) The Tallest Man On Earth (another great discovery. Killer songwriter) Vetiver (great set. Thanks to whoever recommended!) William Elliot Whitmore (another great set and great discovery). Thanks to all of you who suggested bands to see! Here are a few photos from the fest: Main Stage. Probably only held 4,000 or so and rarely had more than 3k at a time I'd say.

    beets?

chop into wedges along with wedges of sweet potato and parsnip, little bit of oil, salt and garlic and broil until crispy. Great replacement for fries.
  4. yeah, I saw the acorn open for bon iver a few months ago here in brighton, so they're def. getting some european dates.
  5. haven't been, but have been to Tanzania and will probably be going a couple more times in the coming months. I work with some people who have lived there, so if you have specific questions beyond a tour guide feel free to PM me. Am planning a trip to Arusha park in March.
  6. actually, it looks like that list I posted is missing a lot of bands. Blitzen Trapper's listed as well, and I think some folks on here were giving them really positive reviews. Thanks for your suggestions though!
  7. http://www.endoftheroadfestival.com/ Really small fest limited to 5,000 people in Dorset, UK. Very chilled out and community/eco oriented. Should be fun! Hold Steady are also playing but don't seem to be on that list, and Jarvis Cocker is doing a DJ set. Don't know what that'll be like.

  10. for dry-ish fish (marlin, shark, swordfish, etc.), I like to do them in foil packs with various combinations of spice and veg. I like it with chili sauce, a slice of tomato, lemon juice, a bit of chopped onion, garlic, S&P, and coriander.
  11. i think I have his Sault police hockey card from the Greyhounds! Remember those? You had to go ask a cop if he/she had any and they'd give them out. Blast from the past.

    Velvet blog?

As mentioned above, it's just a matter of managing the theme, or "look" you want. In the control panel of your blog you can go to "Manage Themes" (or something similar, mine is in french so I don't know the exact label). You can then sort through tons of possible themes according to number of columns, colours, etc., add whatver "widgets" you want (calendar, flickr tool, RSS reader, etc.), and then preview what the whole thing would look like. So it's basically a two step process: 1. Find a general theme you like 2. customise it so it has what you want in it. Feel free to PM me if you want more info. ps. this is a cool site for playing around with the look of different themes (switch themes on teh right hand side of the screen). http://playwith.wpthemes.info/
  22. The Rae Spoon album is also killer. Disappointed (but not surprised) that (s)he didn't make the shortlist.

    Velvet blog?

Yeah, totally. For wordpress you have 2 options, wordpress.org, which you download and host somewhere (complicated to me), or wordpress.com, which is hosted by them for free (simple). Took me one day to set up the system and it's now managed by someone who has VERY minimal internet or computer skills.
