Rob Not Bob
In the movie High Fidelity, the characters have a discussion on the all time best Track One, Side One songs ... I was pondering the opposite of that, some of the all time great last tracks on albums. By this I mean not just great songs that happened to be the last ones on the album, but great studio album closers, ones that finished the album off in style. Here are a few that spring to my mind, let me know what your picks are :Soul Survivor - Exile On Main Street - The Rolling StonesA Day In The Life - Sgt. Pepper - The Beatles (of course!)When The Levee Breaks - Fourth Album - Led ZeppelinCome On - Urban Hymns - The VerveEclipse - Dark Side Of The Moon - Pink FloydO, Sweet Nuthin' - Loaded - Velvet UndergroundWon't Get Fooled Again - Who's Next - The WhoStarless - Red - King CrimsonAnd This Day - Hex Enduction Hour - The FallFor Your Pleasure - For Your Pleasure - Roxy MusicIt - The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway - GenesisInner City Blues - What's Goin' On - Marvin GayeI Remember Nothing - Unknown Pleasures - Joy DivisionGet Out Of My House - The Dreaming - Kate BushHighlands - Time Out Of Mind - Bob DylanNeverland - Marbles - MarillionPurple Rain - Purple Rain - Prince and the RevolutionLost And Found - Over - Peter HammillChalkhills And Children - Oranges And Lemons - XTCRnBshowing his age

Rob Not Bob
How aboutThe End/Her Majesty - The Beatles, Abbey Road Great one ... when I was first thinking of this, I was limiting myself to one per artist, but the Beatles had lots of great closing tracks ... Tomorrow Never Knows from Revolver, Good Night from the White Album, Get Back from Let It Be ... if they had ever put Hey Jude on an actual album, it would have been the last track RnB

StoneMtn
Well, it's sort of the second last song on the album, but the last song is just a reprise, so I'd have to go with:4'33" off "Monkey Do" by Bob LoblawIngenious cover of a song by John Cage, and the [color:purple]sound is fantastic now that it's digitized. Velvet
Child Of Vision - Supertramp - Breakfast In Americaand the greatest love song of all time:For Crying Out Loud - Meat Loaf - Bat Out Of HellI was lost till you were foundBut I never knew how far downI was fallingBefore I reached the bottomI was cold and you were fireAnd I never knew how the pyreCould be burningOn the edge of the ice fieldAnd the now chilly california windIs blowing down our bodies againAnd we’re sinking deeper and deeper into the chilly california sandOh I know you belong inside my aching heartAnd can’t you see my faded levis bursting apartAnd don’t you hear me crying:Oh babe, don’t goAnd don’t you hear me screaming:How was I to know? I’m in the middle of nowhereNear the end of the lineBut there’s a border to somewhere waitingAnd there’s a tankful of timeOh give me just another moment to see the light of the dayAnd take me to another land where I don’t have to stayAnd I’m gonna need somebody to make me feel like you doAnd I will receive somebody with open arms, open eyes,Open up the sky and let the planet that I love shine throughFor crying out loudYou know I love youFor crying out loudYou know I love youFor crying out loudYou know I love youI was damned and you were savedAnd I never knew how enslavedI was kneelingIn the chains of my masterI could laugh but you could cryAnd I never knew just how highI was flyingAh, with you right above meI’m in the middle of nowhereNear the end of the lineBut there’s a border to somewhere waitingAnd there’s a tankful of timeOh give me just another moment to see the light of the dayAnd take me to another land where I don’t have to stayAnd I’m gonna need somebody to make me feel like you doAnd I will receive somebody with open arms, open eyes,Open up the sky and let the planet that I love shine throughFor crying out loudYou know I love youFor crying out loudYou know I love yourFor crying out loudYou know I love youFor taking in the rain when I’m feeling so dryFor giving me the answers when I’m asking you whyAnd my oh myFor that I thank youFor taking in the sun when I’m feeling so coldFor giving me a child when my body is oldAnd don’t you knowFor that I need youFor coming to my room when you know I’m aloneFor finding me a highway and driving me homeAnd you gotta knowFor that I serve youFor pulling me away when I’m starting to fallFor revving me up when I’m starting to stallAnd all in allFor that I want youFor taking and for giving and for playing the gameFor praying for my future in the days that remainOh lordFor that I hold youAh but most of allFor cryin’ out loudFor that I love youAh but most of allFor cryin’ out loudFor that I love youAh but most of allFor cryin’ out loudFor that I love youWhen you’re crying out loudYou know I love you Edited June 17, 2005 by Guest To add the lyrics of the greatest love song of all time.
