Guest Low Roller
The Leafs traded a 2009 draft pick for Ryan Hollweg. I see that their rebuilding through the draft plan is going smoothly.

Jaimoe
A 5th rounder for Hollweg means nothing in the whole scheme of questionable moves in this off-season. One thing for sure is that Ryan will be busy protecting the softest team ever to lace up the blades.

Could be smart, could backfire.

Booche
Brian Costello's Top 10 Reasons Why Sundin Isnt A Hall Of Famer10. Has never led his team to great heights.9. Has just 16 more points (1,321) than games played (1,305) during his 17-season career. Very good, but not great.8. He never posted a 50-goal season and had just one 100-point season. Pavel Bure had two 60-goal seasons and two more with 58 and 59 and he’s an outsider.7. His 1,321 career regular season points are impressive, but not good enough. Adam Oates has been rejected two straight induction years and he retired with 1,420 points. Same with Doug Gilmour and his 1,414 points.6. His 555 career regular season goals are impressive, but not good enough. Dino Ciccarelli has 608 and he has been rebuffed and Dave Andreychuk (640) won’t get in when he’s first-time eligible in 2009.5. Has averaged less than a point per game in the playoffs in his career.4. Has never been a first-team all-star. (He has been a second-teamer twice.)3. Has never won an individual award.2. Has never won a Stanley Cup – or even made it to the final.1. Has rarely played at a level where he’s considered among the top few players at his position. He has been loyal, durable, his production has been remarkably consistent, but he hasn’t crossed the line between being a very, very good player and a truly exceptional player.Booche note:To be fair, his career aint over just yet. dave-O
The HHOF has always favoured winners over talent (see Anderson, Glenn). Sundin has played his entire career for losers. End of story.
Guest Low Roller
Doug Gilmour is going to be an Assistant Coach for the Toronto Marlies this year. And so begins his ascent to head coach of the Leafs with Joe Nieuwendyk as the GM.
Jaimoe
At least he's going about it the right way. Starting off in the AHL as an assistant is a good place to start. Since the Leafs will suck for another 4-5 years, Gilly can cut his teeth in relative safety and should be ready to "ascend" to the Bigs by then if he's any good. ULTIMATE WARRIOR
I hope that the McCabe trade does not go down as rumoured! The entire core of this team has been shreaded, and without Sundin in the line-up (fingers still crossed that he is though) we're going to need a captain and McCabe is that guy to wear the C! The entire core of this team has been shreaded, and without Sundin in the line-up (fingers still crossed that he is though) we're going to need a captain and McCabe is that guy to wear the C! purple post, right? Seriously, what do you expect from this team this year. If there ever was a year where it wasn't going to happen this is it. They are rebuilding. Trying to get a bit more younger talent. And trying to secure the first pick for next season's draft. Not saying they are going to tank the season, but they sure as hell aren't going to make it far. It's going to be a valuable experience for the YOUNG players to get tons of ice time while deadwood like McCabe can flounder in Florida. Good riddance McCabe. hamilton
I'm not disappointed to see him gone. He's not a horrible player, but Toronto needs changes to the core, and getting rid of Tucker and McCabe (not to mention deadwood like Wellwood, Raycroft and Pohl) sounds pretty good to me.
