Northern Wish
There had better be MANY decent bands to add, that is just weaksauce.
Big Wooly Mammoth
Strange line up so far. Fishbone - I really like them, but seems like an odd fit. The only other band/person that I know is Bela. I've heard of TPOTUSA, but don't know any of their music. Aren't they also a "punk" type band?
bradm
I've heard of TPOTUSA, but don't know any of their music. Aren't they also a "punk" type band?Well, punk-ish (but not in an angry/violent way). They were a one- or two-hit-wonder ("Lump", "Peaches") some years back (mid-1990s).Aloha,Brad
AD
their new stuff is getting really good reviews.i'd go see them if they came to ottawa. but that's about as far as i'd go.
Northern Wish
Shouldn't it be good?!... they only took about 10 years for their follow up. Maybe they were inventing/hybridizing some more new instruments?
Chewie
wow, that line up blows, what a waste of time...
Schwa.
m-e-h. Edited May 6, 2008 by Guest Changed from capital letters because it was too enthusiastic for this very bad linieup.
AD
they only took about 10 years for their follow up. Maybe they were inventing/hybridizing some more new instruments?no, they broke up for 6 years or something like that
fluffhead77
I'm SURE they'll be adding way more bands. IIRC this always how it goes, small frys announced first then some bigger bangs...
mattm
exactly. if they announce all the really good bands right off the bat, too many people will want to buy the cheaper tickets or something like that. lol, that is probably not true in the least but moe.down usually has a pretty good lineup so I think it will this year as well.To be honest, the pres's are kinda funny and I wouldn't mind seeing them again. Also haven't seen fishbone since roughly the same time as the last time I saw the pres's, back in the old lollapalooza days.
SaggyBalls
I really dug Moe.Down. It'd be a fest that I'd go to because it's well done and a comfortable place to be...to see some great music even if it's not a showstopper list.
djmelbatoast
I had to review TPOTUSA for my radio station and the album blows goats. Total shit. IMHO.
mark tonin
I really enjoyed Cornmeal at Gratefulfest last year ... definitely worth checking out.Peace, Mark
Animal Chin
wow other that pusa and fishbone (both had their last hit in like 1992) i havn't even heard of those bands. They need at least an umphrey's of bisco to make people go see that. I saw PUSA years ago and they put on a killer show though.
Kanada Kev
I really enjoyed Cornmeal at Gratefulfest last year ... definitely worth checking out. Me too! Damn fun sets for sure Wish they'd come around here just a little closer.
Freeker
This lineup makes me want to Derhak in my Schnier.Garvey'd
skelter
fishbone is pretty sweet to a lot of folks ... very underground 80s LA underground/eventually had a decent record deal. Not too far off from early Chilis
Groove Fetish
I like Fishbone- I even saw Fshbone but I don't have any Fshbone.pretty much meh on the others but my basis for POTUSOA would be their two hits mentioned. and the only other that is on my radar is Bela. Northern Wish
Cornmeal is a tight ass bluegrass band. I've heard a couple of shows, and they do a very nice Naive Melody- but we're talking $100 here. CTMF does better than this, other than moe. SaggyBalls
I guess it all depends on whether or not you want to go to ghost town or not. The hill at Turin was a realy nice place to rock out.I was only there once and was impressed. Maybe they're trying to gete fewer people out this year and know that the people that want to be there will definitely show up. I wonder what the mayoral race will be like. Northern Wish
This is just a guess, but with moe. going on hiatus, they know they'll draw huge whether the other acts are Umphreys or Lynch. If I were them, I'd take the money and run and book a bunch of cheap underlings. I think we'll get a couple of the ol stalwarts (maybe STS9, or Zen Tricksters) but this one may be all about moe. And that makes me think it will be worth it too.
afro poppa
Cornmeal is fantastic!Although the rest of the lineup isn't so hot. Luckily moe. plays a bajoillion sets!
hamilton
The PMGI'm going to go out on a limb and guess that this isn't the Pat Metheny Group?
Jaimoe
The PMGI'm going to go out on a limb and guess that this isn't the Pat Metheny Group? We'd hope. It's actually some band from Indiana.
