Cully
That was so funny. It was great to see/hear the fans get so into it!
Jakis
Great time last night! Fans were awesome! Really into it and paying attention. Not like opening day games where there are lots of fans but half of them are fighting!
peipunk
That was some fun ball to watch. That crowd definitely had an old-school vibe to it with a new-school attitude. It came across great on the tele. Doc was incredible, as usual. I admit to getting caught up in the hype but it matched the expectations. Fuck watching the Bruins and Lucic. Someone knock them out already! As a self-admitted Fairweather Fan, I am absolutely fascinated with my fascination with baseball at the moment. Watching the Blue Jays over any NHL second round Game 6? Even though I flipped between innings, that has NEVER happened to me before.
c-towns
I think an oblique strain would be very uncomfortable for a baseball player what with swinging a bat and making odd movements when fielding balls and throwing. I don't agree with the football comparison, they play 16 games compared to baseballs 162, of course you're not going to sit out for soreness but why not in baseball. Jaimoe
I watched the ball game and flipped periodically to hockey. Halladay (my favourite athlete) vs the Yanks wins out over my Bruins, especially when Boston got a two-goal lead.
Jaimoe
Want another reason to hate the Yankees? Check out what they think of the Jays attendence, Toronto deserving a team and Toronto in general (Yankee forum): http://www.forums.mlb.com/n/pfx/forum.aspx?tsn=1&nav=messages&webtag=ml-yankees&tid=401752
Whitey
Boring game last night. The attendance was alo a big disappointment. On a positive note, the lead singer from The Trews came out and played an excellent electric guitar version of O Canada. He rocked it out.
Booche
Hey Thumper.......those Yankees fans make a good point.
Basher
Unfortunately you would have to add about 10 other teams to that list though.15 years of being irrelevant will certainly impact attendance.
MoMack
And the bigger impact leading to a 25% decline is not counting the freebies this year, right?
TheSloth
They make a valid point about how a first place team should have better attendance but their point about moving the franchise is completely invalid if you just take a second and compare Jay attendance with that of the rest of league, unless, like Basher said, 10 other teams should be relocatted as well, 1 in Vegas, another in ............? Basher
Dave, if this team is in a race in September every game will be a sellout.Tampa Bay, Atlanta, have had PLAYOFF games that were not sellouts in recent years. That would not happen here. TheSloth
I hear you, I'm just saying I can understand how a fan might point out that a first place team isn't packing the place with the GTA having a +5 million population (pulled that number out of my ass, could be wrong) with the Leaves and Craptors long gone. I think the crowds will come eventually as well.
Whitey
Also, the attendance numbers are a bit down because the Bluejays have not had any big series other than the Yankees. e.g., Red Sox, Angels. The numbers will come if they keep winning.
Jaimoe
Hey Thumper.......those Yankees fans make a good point. Some made excellent points. Some points were unfounded.
Jaimoe
But guys, the #2 pitcher had his first game against a division rival, the Yankees no less, and he chocked. Wait until they play the Red Sox. Don't kid yourselves. This team is going to live and die by their young unproven pitching staff.

Basher
CC had a pretty good slider going last night. I was more impressed with his pitching than I was disappointed in the Jays hitting.
