  1. welcome back! don't know much about what's happening in alberta... check out the west coast forum maybe?
  2. Funny... I had thought about posting a similar thread the other day (inspired by the i love gd thread), but didn't cause I know I'd have too many songs to narrow down. Nevertheless, for today (and many days) i'd go with... to lay me down the mission standing on the moon the loser birdsong stella blue row jimmy high time Maybe we should change the title of this thread to..."what would your gd inspired greatest hits look like?"
  3. Wow! You all have such a great way with words Definitely a nice cozy winter vibe the other night. A rare treat to see two of my all-time favourite guitar players together. Many times throughout the night you guys sounded like one instrument... Sweet to be able to hear some of the songs that you guys have written over the years in a different light. I know Todd totally enjoyed himself and hopes to do it again (after the 28th). Mike your banter had me chuckling through the night... Visions of you stranded at the old farmhouse wondering how you had gotten yourself in that position, or hoofing it down the road hoping that you'll get lucky enough to make it to your own tour was priceless, so thanks for that. Nate Zahn (the opener) was great too! He had a smokin' voice. I wish I had grabbed a disc of his, but I didn't have any cash on me...perhaps another time. And all the rest of you skanks that bring a smile to my face (i think you know who you are)...just thanks (again).
  4. Actually looks like a little snow will be getting in the way of the show tonight. This one is cancelled folks. Stay warm!
  5. Hey Blair! I don't know anything about the guy or his sound, other than his name is Nate Zahn. After googling his name I came up with this link... http://www.tbshows.com/bands/nate_zahn Maybe Guitarzan can tell us more? I'm assuming if he has Mike's stamp of approval that he is worth checking out! Two more sleeps!
  6. This is sure to be a smokin' night of music! Wish I could be there!
  7. This Friday (dec. 19th)... Fatties at 2 doors down, brantford. Cheers.
  8. All of my Bonnaroo experiences have been fantastic, and having phish headlining is definitely a pull factor. Having said that, I don't think I would ever bring my child down there (definitely not at such a young age anyways)... mostly because there isn't a stitch of shade to be found, it's a hell of a long drive and potential wait to get in, and i wouldn't have the freedom that I would want in order to make it worth the trek. Plus I've got a wedding to attend that weekend, so I know i'm out. I don't know if making it back to Bonnaroo will ever be in the cards for me again. But hey, if you've got the cash, the time, and the freedom, i'd highly recommend it.
  9. Feliz Navidad O Holy Night The River (joni)
  10. Many of my most valued relationships with so many different people were catalyzed or inspired by the Grateful Dead...pretty crazy actually. The band has provided a soundtrack for so many life events...It's amazing to now get the opportunity to observe the calming effects their music brings to my son.
  11. Depending on the situation... I Shall Be Released Redemption Song Amazing Grace melodically they bring me comfort...i'm not sure about cheer, but comfort.
  12. Congrats Ari! Hopefully many doors will open!
  13. This definitely brings a smile to my face too! What an honour.
  14. Hey Boochey! Thanks. I actually have Sky Blue Sky (love it). I don't have Summerteeth though, so I think that will be my next purchase. Cheers.
  15. Great night! I have to agree, the energy that Neil was putting out from start to finish was inspirational. He is a heavy, heavy dude, and "old" age doesn't appear to be slowing him down at all. I haven't seen Neil in a couple of years, and I was quickly confronted with all of the goodness that I have been missing out on. First time being on the floor for Neil, and it was a real treat to get so close to him. He was so charged. I thought his wife actually sounded better than I remember as well. They are so cute, and obviously very much in love. I wasn't a huge fan of Sea Change and Worlds Collide to tell you the truth. Todd viewed them in the same light the Dead's Victim or the Crime... All in all I thought the first half othe show was the most powerful, but I enjoyed hearing Cowgirl towards the end, and Day in the Life was pretty cool as well. It was my first time seeing Wilco as well. I thought they were great! I only own a couple of their albums, and there were definitely a few tunes played that were less familiar to me, and I am convinced that I need to beef up my wilco collection. They were soo tight... Lot going on up on that stage, and it was all coming together so well. Anyone going tonight is in for a great show!
  16. Todd and I are on the floor too! woot! woot!
  17. I though Rex Murphy actually summed it all up pretty good last night on CBC news at 11:00pm.
  18. Thanks guys. So, that being the case can anyone speculate on a timeline for the night?
  19. Is the Harbour Sports Grill the one that is kiddy corner from the parking lot beside the ship? The one by the plaza with that sculpture outside of it? If so, that was where we were thinking of stopping beforehand. Nothing too, too special about it, but for out-of-towners it makes for very convenient parking, quick and dirty eats/drinking, and a nice little stroll to the ACC that is the perfect distance for blowing off some steam if you know what I mean... I was trying to remember the name of that place, but Water St. Grille was the only thing that was coming to mind...
  20. No doubt. Could someone clarify? I know Wilco is opening, but I have also heard rumours from more than one source that there are two openers that night? Is that true? I hope not.
  21. Thanks Julia. I certainly wish that I could have been there, but wasn't able to get a sitter for last night... Can't do it all I suppose. Sounds like there was a few people there that I haven't seen in a while! I'll be seeing you on the 20th in k-town for sure though if you're still planning on making it.
