  1. I'm still wondering why more people haven't questioned or investigated the bands about this. I've read just as many speculative articles/posts/blogs that put the musicians in the same hotseat as TM. A lot with just as many valid (although not proven) reasons why the bands themselves would have an interest in this. Aside from Bruce, or some vague apologys for the incoviences some fans endured getting tickets through TM has anyone read any other opposition or statements from musicians about this recently. Personally, I'd think we'd hear more from the musicians. If not previous to, at least since a big name like Bruce spoke up.

  3. I believe you guys would find 'Epic Pooh' by Michael Moorcock an interesting read. Although, I have the feeling Ian knows the essay, or has read it anyway. Recommendation, read the books, not just LoTR.
  4. I drank my lunch for breakfast.

    f my life

I love that site, and I love how it will randomly pop on at different times on different boards. This time I bookmarked it. A lot of classic shit on there, too much almost.
  6. I don't think it's bad, but just a bit too busy for my taste though. I just can't get into THS and to be honest I can't put my finger on a definite reason. I've seen them live and hanging out with Newrider I've heard their discs. I know I'm not big on the vocals, to me he seems to be shouting with a semi-talk/singing "punchy" tone in their songs. I dunno. I'm not trashing the band or anything, just saying how it comes across to me. I was at that show as well. I even recorded the convacation hall show on a crappy recorder I had (no external mic type deal...lol), turned out so bad it wasn't worth keeping. It was the first show I ever recorded so in hindsight, I sorta wish I had kept it.
  7. I wish I could have made it Ken, thats sounds like a really great show. Unfortunately, lack of acceptable finances kept me rather close to home. Next time I hope.
  8. Happy birthday LaForge. Have a great day.
  9. Happy birthday Brian. All the best to you my friend. Hope you have a great day.
  10. I know the above was posted already in the other thread, but now that it has its own thread, I may as well post Bruce's message. http://www.brucespringsteen.net/news/index.html About the original topic: This sorta made me laugh. It almost seems like a admission of guilt does it not? Or is it just me and I'm missing something. If TM doesn't purposely put tickets on Tickets now for inflated prices, while they could easily leave them on their TM service, why would they even consider refunding any money.
  11. Very nice & thanks for posting geomouse. I need to pull out live at the Dominion again, Foggy Hogtown Boys are a great band.

    Yes. Some deep, some shallow.
  13. I also read an interesting post from a reader on a blog that suggested that perhaps a lot (all?) of the bands themselves are involved in this, not just "scalpers" or TM only. With so many other sources now-a-days making money off the artists music, whose to say that the bands are not just bying up stacks of tickets, putting them on the resale sites for inflated prices and then whatever is slow to sell, or even doesn't sell gets re-released on TM's normal ticketing service and they still make their original projected profits. It would be one way of making up some of the losses they claim to occur through online downloading (illegal or legal). Perhaps thats one way tickets keep popping up on TM and LN days after they claim sell outs, or even the "day of" the show releases. Of course, it's all speculation. But really, why aren't the bands themselves speaking up about this? Its certianly not something new, since both TM & LN have been working together up until this year, and now will be once again working together.
  14. Booker T & Drive-By Truckers Merle Haggard The Del McCoury Band David Grisman Quintet Béla Fleck & Toumani Diabate Vieux Farka Toure Gov’t Mule Lucinda Williams Allen Toussaint Robert Earl Keen Those artists alone in one place make me wish I could handle that large a crowd for an entire weekend. Great line-up thats for sure.
  15. Might see you down there Jakis, I've been wanting to see Bruce Peninsula again.
  16. Nevermind, a quick search answered my question. http://online.wsj.com/article/SB123371303837346367.html?mod=googlenews_wsj
  17. Is this recent? I ask because everything I read over the last few months of 2008 (and even in jan. this year) had Live nation stating they were severing ties with TM in 2009 (US) and then in 2010 within Canada. Although I certianly wouldn't be surprised if they already flipped.
  18. I get what your saying Schwa, and feel pretty much the same way really. Although, its not like I don't have fun when I do go, I just don't feel the excitment like I used to I guess. As for Langerado, I've never been but from what I have read online from folks on different boards, venue and line-up seemed to equal bad ticket sales (as Basher already mentioned) moreso then economy. I imagine with Phish playing the same weekend that hurt a percentage of sales as well.
  19. Congratulations! Sorry I can't help with a band suggestion.
  20. Booker T & Drive By Truckers? Thats pretty awesome.
