Ween-Your Party

There were beverages laid out for the party,

There were candy and spices and tri-coloured pastas,

The meat carved was drunk from succulent juices,

served on platters of the purest gold.

I was calm when we arrived at the party.

I spoke with fervor embracing the evening,

my wife leaned over and whispered I love you,

I held her close, we danced.

We had the best time at your party,

The wife and I thank you very much.

Cream puffs above them* and the music was louder,

My wife was competing in a game of chance.

The party raged and the guests were screaming,

I could have danced all night.

We had the best time at your party,

The wife and I thank you very much.

Later on, when we were under the covers,

I closed my eyes and I drifted to sleep.

I dreamt about me, maybe throwing a party

and just how great that would be.

We had the best time at your party,

The wife and I thank you very much.

* not sure of the lyrics.

There is a house in New Orleans

They call the Rising Sun

And it's been the ruin of many a poor boy

And God I know I'm one

My mother was a tailor

She sewed my new bluejeans

My father was a gamblin' man

Down in New Orleans

Now the only thing a gambler needs

Is a suitcase and trunk

And the only time he's satisfied

Is when he's on a drunk

Oh mother tell your children

Not to do what I have done

Spend your lives in sin and misery

In the House of the Rising Sun

Well, I got one foot on the platform

The other foot on the train

I'm goin' back to New Orleans

To wear that ball and chain

Well, there is a house in New Orleans

They call the Rising Sun

And it's been the ruin of many a poor boy

And God I know I'm one

The Party - Max Webster

Cats in the bag

The neighbours holler

This party is higher

Than the eiffel tower

We're all here to be reckless

We're all sleazy and easy to please

Dreamers and schemers on the loose

We're all here for a celebration

The madcap scene and the max machine

And the friends you see go up in smoke

And this heel toe dance song tour de force

Climbing a cloud climbing a cloud

Put a little life on the line

Here's Lucy she's choosey

Of who calls her on the phone

She's from a very rich foreign family

But displaced cause of rivalry at home

Now Daphne is the orphan

Still searching for her roots

She likes concert blisters and leather boots

And knows one fact her act is to get loose

Now we're just musicians

Here to thin the thickness of your skin

Show us your body

Show us your curls

Show us your tour de force

Show us your thrills

Keep that smile on your face

This is the best offer you've had so far

We're innocent we're naive

In the cabarets we get our veins wet

In the saloons we hassle the richest guests

In the climb we're breathless above the rest

Climbing a cloud climbing a cloud

What is happening here?

Something is going on

Thats not quite clear

Somebody turn on the light

Were gonna have a party

Its starting tonight

Oh, what a feeling!

When were dancing on the ceiling

The room is hot...thats good

Some of my friends came

By from the neighbourhood

People were starting

To climb the walls

Ooh, it looks like everybody

Is having a ball

Everybody starts to lose control

When the music is right

If you see somebody hanging around

Dont get up right

The only thing we wanna do tonight

Is go round and round

And turn upside down

Come on, lets get down

So come on, lets get loose

Dont hold back

Because it aint no use

Hard to keep your feet on the ground

Because when we like to ball it

We only want to get down

What? you say what?

Its love now...

Just get started

Everybody clap your hands, come on

Everybody have sense...

End of an Era that is for sure.

Thanks for all of the good times, couches to crash on, friendly friends, and tonnes of bottles to clean up. I've had some of the best, craziest times of my life in that place and I thank the people that lived and loved there.

My fondest memories of that place are the ones I can't recall..........

The world is round and the place which may seem like the end may also be the beginning. ~Ivy Baker Priest

This Must be the Place (Naive Melody)

Talking Heads

Home is where I want to be

Pick me up and turn me round

I feel numb - born with a weak heart

I guess I must be having fun

The less we say about it the better

Make it up as we go along

Feet on the ground

Head in the sky

It's ok I know nothing's wrong . . nothing

Hi yo I got plenty of time

Hi yo you got light in your eyes

And you're standing here beside me

I love the passing of time

Never for money

Always for love

Cover up and say goodnight . . . say goodnight

Home - is where I want to be

But I guess I'm already there

I come home - she lifted up her wings

Guess that this must be the place

I can't tell one from another

Did I find you, or you find me?

There was a time Before we were born

If someone asks, this is where I'll be . . . where I'll be

Hi yo We drift in and out

Hi yo sing into my mouth

Out of all those kinds of people

You got a face with a view

I'm just an animal looking for a home

Share the same space for a minute or two

And you love me till my heart stops

Love me till I'm dead

Eyes that light up, eyes look through you

Cover up the blank spots

Hit me on the head Ah ooh

Thanks to everyone that helped us move over the last two weeks, thanks to all the great roomates both official and unoficial especially Dave and Steve. Thanks to everyone who has ever stopped by and had a good time for 48 (or more) hours at a time.

This is truly the end of an era and I am going to miss 4O Main, probably more than most. I've literally donated blood, sweat and tears into making it more than just a venue, more than just a crashpad. It was my home and I loved it, it was hard as hell to shut the lights off and walk away last night but we ended it in style and the party on Saturday was perfect way for everyone to say goodbye.

Thank you 4O Main!

This is the end

Beautiful friend

This is the end

My only friend, the end

Of our elaborate plans, the end

Of everything that stands, the end

No safety or surprise, the end

Ill never look into your eyes...again

Can you picture what will be

So limitless and free

Desperately in need...of some...strangers hand

In a...desperate land

Lost in a roman...wilderness of pain

And all the children are insane

All the children are insane

Waiting for the summer rain, yeah

Theres danger on the edge of town

Ride the kings highway, baby

Weird scenes inside the gold mine

Ride the highway west, baby

Ride the snake, ride the snake

To the lake, the ancient lake, baby

The snake is long, seven miles

Ride the snake...hes old, and his skin is cold

The west is the best

The west is the best

Get here, and well do the rest

The blue bus is callin us

The blue bus is callin us

Driver, where you taken us

The killer awoke before dawn, he put his boots on

He took a face from the ancient gallery

And he walked on down the hall

He went into the room where his sister lived, and...then he

Paid a visit to his brother, and then he

He walked on down the hall, and

And he came to a door...and he looked inside

Father, yes son, I want to kill you

Mother...i want to...fuck you

Cmon baby, take a chance with us

Cmon baby, take a chance with us

Cmon baby, take a chance with us

And meet me at the back of the blue bus

Doin a blue rock

On a blue bus

Doin a blue rock

Cmon, yeah

Kill, kill, kill, kill, kill, kill

This is the end

Beautiful friend

This is the end

My only friend, the end

It hurts to set you free

But youll never follow me

The end of laughter and soft lies

The end of nights we tried to die

This is the end

This was my fondest moment from 40. Thanks for everything fellas!

Commodores - Easy (Like Sunday Morning)

'Know it sounds funny but I just can't stand the pain,

Girl, I'm leavin' tomorrow,

Seems to me girl you'know I've done all I can,

You see I've beg, stole and I've borrowed.

Chorus:

S'why I'm easy ..... easy like Sunday mornin',

It's why I'm easy ..... easy like Sunday mornin'.

Why in the world would anybody put chains on me, yeah,

I've paid my dues to make it,

Everybody wants me to be what they want me to be,

I'm not happy when I try to fake it, oooh.

Chorus: .....

Bridge:

I wanna be high ..... so high,

I wanna be free to know the things I do are right,

I wanna be free ..... just me , oh baby.

It's funny; the last few weeks I've had this recurrent dream of being there, but with everything being in a state of dis-/re-organisation - in fact, the place itself was variously in a downtown setting, on the side of a mountain, or I can't even remember where. Same peeps, though, and same recognisable flux. Funny, the way the subconscious processes stuff.

I would very much like to have spent more time there than I did, but I'm thankful to have spent what time I was able getting to know the very good folks there. It was definitely a Place of Very Many Stories.
