rubberdinghy
Ween-Your PartyThere were beverages laid out for the party,There were candy and spices and tri-coloured pastas,The meat carved was drunk from succulent juices, served on platters of the purest gold.I was calm when we arrived at the party.I spoke with fervor embracing the evening,my wife leaned over and whispered I love you,I held her close, we danced. We had the best time at your party,The wife and I thank you very much.Cream puffs above them* and the music was louder,My wife was competing in a game of chance. The party raged and the guests were screaming,I could have danced all night. We had the best time at your party,The wife and I thank you very much.Later on, when we were under the covers,I closed my eyes and I drifted to sleep.I dreamt about me, maybe throwing a partyand just how great that would be.We had the best time at your party,The wife and I thank you very much.* not sure of the lyrics. Blane
There is a house in New Orleans They call the Rising Sun And it's been the ruin of many a poor boy And God I know I'm one My mother was a tailor She sewed my new bluejeans My father was a gamblin' man Down in New Orleans Now the only thing a gambler needs Is a suitcase and trunk And the only time he's satisfied Is when he's on a drunk Oh mother tell your children Not to do what I have done Spend your lives in sin and misery In the House of the Rising Sun Well, I got one foot on the platform The other foot on the train I'm goin' back to New Orleans To wear that ball and chain Well, there is a house in New Orleans They call the Rising Sun And it's been the ruin of many a poor boy And God I know I'm one

Northern Wish
End of an Era that is for sure. Thanks for all of the good times, couches to crash on, friendly friends, and tonnes of bottles to clean up. I've had some of the best, craziest times of my life in that place and I thank the people that lived and loved there. My fondest memories of that place are the ones I can't recall..........The world is round and the place which may seem like the end may also be the beginning. ~Ivy Baker PriestSean

Thanks to everyone who has ever stopped by and had a good time for 48 (or more) hours at a time. This is truly the end of an era and I am going to miss 4O Main, probably more than most. I've literally donated blood, sweat and tears into making it more than just a venue, more than just a crashpad. It was my home and I loved it, it was hard as hell to shut the lights off and walk away last night but we ended it in style and the party on Saturday was perfect way for everyone to say goodbye.Thank you 4O Main! Dr_Evil_Mouse
It's funny; the last few weeks I've had this recurrent dream of being there, but with everything being in a state of dis-/re-organisation - in fact, the place itself was variously in a downtown setting, on the side of a mountain, or I can't even remember where. Same peeps, though, and same recognisable flux. Funny, the way the subconscious processes stuff.I would very much like to have spent more time there than I did, but I'm thankful to have spent what time I was able getting to know the very good folks there. It was definitely a Place of Very Many Stories.

bradm
ah, but have you been to the basement? I didn't actually know the place had a basement until I heard about it in a passing comment (about the clean-up) there on Saturday night.Aloha,Brad
