Who am I looking forward to the most? From what's announced so far, I'm somewhat excited about My Morning Jacket since I've never seen them and used to like them about 5 years ago...I should listen to their recent stuff. Northern Wish'd know better than I as to the dollars but Huey Lewis and the News make top dollar in Vegas and the Casino circuit almost exclusively. I wouldn't be surprised if Hall & Oates is a legit rumour. Seems like the boomer set hasn't been well represented across the board.As usual the sidestage gems will be unmatched. Dennis Coffey for instance is one of the original Funk Brothers and defines the soul wah guitar sound on countless tracks as a sideman, his solo album Scorpio, and his new self titled album backed by Will Sessions (fronted by trumpet player arranger Sam Beaubien - Mayer Hawthorne and the Country and principally Black Milk's Album Of The Year, and bass player Tim Shellaberger). Will Sessions is at the forefront of the Detroit neo-soul revival in Hip Hop but have a huge repertoire of their own, as jazz players first they're the perfect band to back Coffey (akin to the Dapkings or Betty Lavette's new backing band). Anyhow, still lots of holes to be filled, and while I certainly wouldn't call this year's lineup a knockout , there is enough going on that I think I will enjoy.
